Advantages Clear, colourful, comprehensive and easy to read
Disadvantages Book a bit heavy to carry in my handbag
As I decided to upgrade from my point and shoot compact camera to a DSLR, I treated myself to a Sony Alpha 200.
The camera booklet contained some basic information about the camera and its numerous functions. However, as a DSLR newbie, I was lost!
I needed a more in-depth guide so I chose the Sony Alpha Digital Field Guide. I found this book very helpful! It explained everything I needed to know about the camera, its various functions, modes, possible lenses etc..
It also explains the basics of photography with the help of comprehensive chapters about light, exposure, shutter speed/aperture and the different types of photos you may want to take: Portrait, landscape, travel, sports, macro, indoors, night, wildlife etc..
Overall, the guide is full of beautiful colour photos and is clear and easy to read. I often go back to it for ideas and tips.
