The major factor in my purchase was the price as this was 149.99 ... ...great experience with and this is no exception due to the flawless menus, much like the PS3 cross bar which is easy to navigate and perfect working order iv never experience one problem with my unit. Unfortunately it does not come with a HDMI cable but these are very cheap no. The major factor in my purchase was the price as this was 149.99 GBP and a Sony product which i always have had great experience with and this is no exception due to the flawless menus, much like the PS3 cross bar which is easy to navigate and perfect working order iv never experience one problem with my unit. Unfortunately it does not come with a HDMI cable but these are very cheap no. Another point to make note of is do not be fooled into buying high price HDMI cables and a HDMI cable is digital and there for only transmits 1 and 0s unlike analogue equipment and cables which are effected by oxygen in the cable and other factors such as the copper. As long as the HDMI is of good build quality and will fall apart they will all produce the same image quality regardless. In conclusion this is a fantastic player which also looks great under any television system due to it fantastic small size and brilliant glass style display on the front of the unit. The start up time is brilliant and only takes me on average 10 seconds from putting the disk in till it actually playing which is phenomenal compared to other players on the market. The image quality is amazing and makes DVD look like VHS in comparison. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in improving their home cinema system. And this is one essential piece of kit at at a unbeatable price.

Firstly, many older models of BDP's have been sluggish to say the least with loading times, however, the S350 offers exceptional loading times as you would expect from a standard DVD.
The S350 can then be set to automatically play at the best possible resolution possible (1080p for Blu Ray feature films and a Full HD TV), and will even upscale standard DVDs to the 1080p standard ... ...S350 linked up to a Sony Bravia FPTV then, conveniently, you can used the one remote to control the BDP and volume, channel and power controls.
The interface used to change settings, scroll through menus and browse other functions of the BDP is very smooth and easy to use so you can ensure you have the best possible settings for your particular set-up.
To summarise, the BDP-S350 offers the best in current Blu-Ray technology. It is worth noting ...

...with the rest of my Sony equipment and it performs better than other BlueRay players i know of, Sony having invented BlueRay obviously know what to put in there equipment for it to perform so good and so reliable, if your watching Blueray for the first time you will be astonished by the clarity and depth of the film you are watching, i recommend you watch a film on normal dvd resolution then watch the same film on BlueRay and you will see the difference ... ...in the normal dvd, its that good! going back to the design it stands about 5cm thick and is slightly shorter (length wise) than most. put this together with a home theatre system and active sub woofer you will have yourself a amazing true cinema experience, which sounds, looks and performs flawlessly. ...

...back for a refund. The Sony BDP-S350 however is a totally different animal.
Firstly, It looks good, with it's metallic blue front, which automatically flips open and closed when a disc is inserted or ejected. Boot-up time on some Blu Ray players has been an issue, but on the Sony it is as quick as any standard player.
Connections are via an HDMI cable, there is also a optical output for excellent Dolby 5.1, via the necessary hardware.
Blu Ray ... ...which is very impressive anyway. Up-scaling of all your old DVD's is also mightily impressive, giving maximum resolution of 1080p.
There are many user-settings you can adjust to suit your personal preferences.
These things are now available at around £170, which is becoming reasonable, especially as there are hundreds of Blu ray films available on-line, and on ebay much cheaper than on the high street. If you have an HD TV, but do not want to pay ...

seemed to be a common fault. The firmware update actually corrupts the players drive or memory and that is the machine broke!!! One bloke said that Sony don't want anything to do with it. I thought this a little odd as it is their software. He was right. I have tried contacting Sony and they want nothing to do with it.
Sorry folks if I have shattered any illusions. It is a terrible player in my experience and as a whole I think Sony equipment is terrible. I am now sticking to Panasonic and Toshiba. Never had a single fault on any of their equipment!! Hopefully the BDP-S350 will be a million times better than the 300, but somehow I doubt it. ...
