I am now on my third blu ray player of 2010. luckily the previous 2 were all under warrenty. the first an LG BDP was a ex demo in a closing down sale which i had to take to be changed to another store after it would not read BR Disks. the second was a LG replacement brand new and i was not happy with this one either. the reader was slow and the remote was poor, so luckily i took it back for a replacement but decided to upgrade to this sony model.
I am kinda happier with this blu ray disk player. one it looks great, the remote is more fucntional and more responsive.
My main gripe with Blu ray is that blu ray disks seam to take an eternity to be read by the player. ok it may only be 10 - 13 seconds to read the disk but then you have a menu asking to choose between audio / movie / other options etc. just take me straight to the film for once!!!
Another gripe with blu ray is that it would be wise to have your blu ray player connected to an internet / broadband source. i think this is just so you can access the evolving and ever changing extra features which the chosen movie is the key to accessing? i may be wrong there, but according to the shop assistant, it is also to update the softwear in the player, OK more expense getting an internet connection to my living room! just great!
The movies i've watched so far on this player (Avatar, transformers etc) (Blockbusters) all look and sound great in high deffinition. one thing I am happy about is that this player also plays dvd disks so when i come to shopping for new disks, i am too tempted to go for the cheeper option of a dvd rather than buing a BR Disk.
word of advise if you are contemplating buying this blu ray player, it only comes with a plug attatched so i suggest you also buy a HMDI cable in order to watch the disks to their full potential. other than that, it is easy to install, plug into the mains, attatch your extra cable (you can even add audio cables and internet cables quickly) and away to go! oh, some quick and simple set up instructions to follow on screen but shouldn't take you long to scan thru and apply.
