Sony Bravia KDL-46EX723

We looked long and hard for a TV, and we ended up deciding on this Sony, as it seemed to have the most comprehensive set of features and, compared with most, although still pricey in my opinion, it is value for money.

The images are crisp and the refresh rate is excellent. The colours are natural and there are a number of settings that allow you to change vividness depending on what you are watching. The ports are more than sufficient to plug in everything you might need, and the overall experience is great, even in 3D mode - I was dubious about it, thinking that the home system might be in its infancy, so to speak, but the quality is great.

The range of options available through Qriocity - Sony's service available through registration are better than average.

We're waiting to see if the conspiracy theorists are right about the Sony durability. I will be updating my review if things go pear shaped. So far, so good, though.

The only downsides are:
- the remote and menu take a while to get used to
- the sound volume range is not great; if you live on a busy road, for example, you might discover that you need to put it on full blast for an audible level to be appropriate for an action movie. On the other hand, we may be hard of hearing. :)
- the extras (3D glasses, etc, which don't come with the TV) can be expensive. Shop around and speak to friends who might be going to the US - they are about half price there.
