I needed a new system for my car and wanted it to be capable of playing CD's, MP3's and also have DAB so I went for the Sony CDX-DAB 6650 in Car CD player with DAB Radio.
The system head unit is well designed and is a face lift for security, which most of them are now days. The head unit is black in colour with a slight grey monotone colour around the LCD display which itself is a good size so can see it clearly. It has many buttons for you to play with and simple volume buttons on one side and simple skip up, down buttons on the other side. These are the main buttons you'll be using so are very easy to access and are pressure sensitive. The overall design is very sleek and cool looking and definitely be noticed by your friends.
The Sony system has many useful functions, such as:
- DAB Tuner - Multi Codec (Mp3/Atrac3plus playback) - DRIVE-S HX - ID3 Tag (Track-, Artist-, Album name) / CD Text - CD-R/RW playback - BBE MP High Definition Sound - DSO (Dynamic Soundstage Organizer) - EQ7 (7 Band Equalizer) - RDS-EON Tuner - S-MOSFET 4x52W output - CD Changer/MD Changer/WALKMAN control - Rear-Sub switchable pre-out - Detachable Front Panel - 2 Pre-out - Aux-in - IR card remote RM-X151 supplied
Fitting the unit into your car is fairly simple if you haven't done it before the set of instructions provided are very useful. They will guide you through the fitting and setting up of the system and shouldn't take more than 30-40 mins.
The way the head unit opens to put a CD in is very smooth, it slides down and can be closed after you have inserted the CD. When playing MP3's the names of the tracks are clearly scrolled across the display so you know the track and artist name. The DAB radio function is very good to have if you got no CD's laying around in your car. It receives a crisp clear signal with excellent sound quality. The system comes with a small remote control which can be used by the passengers in the car as the driver can drive safely.
Overall the Sony CDX-DAB 6650 in Car CD player with DAB Radio is a very good system. I actually purchased the system about 2 years ago and is still working fine. It has the main features I wanted, CD player, MP3 playback and DAB radio. I spend around £200 on the system at that time as I got a discount from Halfords, you can get it now for around £150 so is still a good price.

This is an excellent dab radio. You do not need to buy a black box with this as it has a dab tuner intergrated into it . All you need is a separate digital aerial, i fitted an internal one on to my windscreen and it works well. The only time i lose my signal is in the Lake District and the South West where the digital signal is weakest. It has great sound and a good choice of different announcements.You can set it to make announcements for news, ... ...use mp3 , cd-r/rw ,and atrac3 plus.
It's good to be able to use mp3 cds in it although i don't use the cd player at all as the digital stations are excellent and the sound is of great quality.
It has a dynamic soundstage organizer which has some preset styles of sound as well as a manual equalizer. Has a max output of 52W x 4 also output socket for power amplifier as well as an aux input. There is also a socket to take a steering column remote ...

My friend was looking for a good headunit for his Fiesta as his previous JVC headunit has failed. As soon as it was plugged in and tuned to a radio station you could tell the difference! With the kit we recieved it included: a internal DAB aerial, connectors for electric aerials, external amps for subwoofers etc.
The headunit is very easy to use once you get the hang of the controls. A handy remote control is also supplied which is great!
