Good All-round head unit, Quick Install and Good Sound Quality
My Lust for all things Sony continued when I had to replace my old Sony CDX-MP40 head unit. The old unit was exceptional and had lasted me 4-5 years so my expectations were high and so far I haven't beed dissappointed but I guess only another 5 years will show whether sonys have improved.
But what I can say is as follows:
Sound Quality - very good, stereo output is very crisp and the choice of equaliser options is better. Bass sounds better too and doesn't distort even at louder volumes. I found the chemical brothers best hits were a good test for this.
Features are excellent and include MP3, CD, Radio, USB and Aux input for your ipod, flash drive or a good tip is to get one of those mini usb hard drives which you can copy hundreds of tracks onto.
One other feature I haven't used yet is the back light colour can change from blue to green, I preferred the blue as my car is blue but if I get a geen car then I might change.
The only feature I was hoping for was bluetoothe connectivity which alot of new cd radios over £100 will have but I found all the Sony bluetooth head units to be rather ugly.
Price wise this model should cost around £100 which is a great price for all the features.
Finally the output is great - 4 x 52 watts which means with some good speakers you won't need an amp in your car unless you want to give yourself some serious headaches.
The only downside so far includes the usb socket which is on the front of the facia but behind a plastic lip on the right hand side of the unit. This lip is held on by 2 small plastic connections which don't look very secure.
I would still recommend this product unless you need the Bluetoothe features which allow you to use the car stereo as a hands free kit for your phone or to play tracks from your phones memory.
