This is a really nice cd player, it does what it says on the tin (if it came in one) - the batteries last an absolute age, the sound quality is great, controls are easy to use, ability to have 30 of your favourite CD's on one disc is fantastic.
Only a few minor quibbles - the software included is absolutely awful - you go through the process of importing your cd's to the ATRAC format (which takes a while), finally click "burn cd", and I got a load of errors, culminating in all I could do was quit ("are you sure? you will lose all your converted music"). Not the best way to waste a few hours of your life! I downloaded the full software from the sony site (not just the simpleburn software) and it was fine - it lets you store your atrac music in a database of your tracks, and you can even play them on the pc which is a definite plus over the included simpleburn software.
Also, the included earphones are a tad weak - I only know this as I had some expensive sony ones and when I tried those the sound was much more punchy - I didn't need the megabass on with the new earphones but definitely did for the ones which came with the unit. As for people complaining about volume, I think it's fine - they need to make sure they don't have the AVLS on (which limits the volume to a ridiculously low level to prevent hearing damage!)
All in all, a great package, definitely worth the price which you can now pick these up for.

I have a Sony MD and have had probs with the software for that. I takes forever to open, is confusing and takes up quite a lot of space on my hard-drive.
