Having read a review on Ciao just a few days a go I decided to place an order for this model. I don't make many phone calls so there's no need for me to purchase a mobile. Instead before I start college I have gone with a Palm.
For those of you who have no idea what a palm is here's a little background information. A palm is around the size of your palm (hehe) and contains software such as address book and calculator. You can also download thousands of games such as Sim City, Pac Man and Sonic.
The Sony Clie Peg-SJ22 isn't the latest model and I have already found I can't install some games because the operating system isn't the latest one.
Your mainly paying for the brand name and the fact it's small. Your find yourself playing games on it more then anything else. I would spend my money for this feature a lone as you can download over 10,000 games. You will be asked to pay around twenty pound each for them or you can do what I did and used P2P software and got them for free.
You can watch small video clips and view photos. The Clie has 16mb of memory but you can get more by inserting a card. I haven't found a way of listening to music yet. I know the new model has this but maybe not my one.
You will need to spend a lot of time on the internet looking for the software yourself. Such things as using your Palm as a TV/DVD/CD player remote control soind great but they only work with the latest TV's and best brand names so you people with a Dony or Fony (hehe) won't be able to use this.
Things such as the calculator and note pad come in handy it's just a shame that there's no microsoft word. You can purchase the software but it's around 30mb. Nearly double that of my Palm's brain.
The design is good and the palm works fast. I haven't had any problems apart from it has crashed a few times, this was because of some dodgy software I downloaded and a quick reset and uninstall sorted the problem out.
The setup guide failed to tell me important information and I spent most of the first 24 hours looking stuff up on the internet.
Sony could have added some more games, which could have been free, and a little more software. But at the end of the day Sony just make the Palm.
