This camera has every feature you could need as an individual looking to buy an easy to use, robust digital camera. I wanted to get rid of the need for carrying films around with me - I travel quite a bit and my photographic demands are very diverse: from taking pictures of leopards hidden in trees on safari to images of dolphins interracting with fellow divers 20m underwater. I am not a professional photographer - I merely wanted to obtain good quality holiday snaps! This camera allows me to do all I could wish for (and more!). Through a combination of optical and digital zoom, you can get an impressive x12 magnification - great for those pictures you take with an APS camera... that can't just reach the subject you're after (this was my biggest issue when taking pictures on safari - most of the time animals were too far away to fill the shot, so I'd just get a small lion and a lot of grassland in my frame.... now I get amazing images with the ability to edit them in camera!). There is also a movie capture facility which is only limited by the size of the memory stick you have inserted - so if you opt for a 1GB Memory stick pro (1Gb stored on something smaller than a stick of chewing gum!), you can expect to film 40mins of full 640 VGA footage - or for smaller films, choose the 160 format.... the camera allows you to record sound and it even has a built in speaker so when replaying you can enjoy the full experience and see if you really did capture the full moment! Using the optional marine housing (Sony MPK PHA) which costs approximately £150, I can take this camera up to 40m underwater which has allowed me to obtain some of the best diving shots I've ever taken - not to mention video footage. This housing also keeps the camera safe on the ski slopes or in the pool... and for those of you who enjoy a photo-shoot in the shower - there's nothing stopping you now!
If you're looking for a perfect all round camera, the sony DSC-P10 will not let you down - it's aluminium body means it is more tolerant to bumps than other cameras, it's small size really does let you keep it in a pocket and with the current price tag of about £350, it really is true value for money.

Advantages: Easy to use, sure shot, amazing pictures everytime and for those who want to be David Baily, this has a range of special little features that will enhance your pictures. Disadvantages: Memory sticks are costly
