I have recently been on the look for a new camera (as my old one's don't work anymore). The sony p10 was always recommended to me by friends and professionals as a good camera, so I went for it and bought it.
It is not cheap per se but for the quality photos you get it is well priced. It's a digital camera with 5 megapixels and 3x optical zoom.
I have to admit, i haven't yet learned all that the camera has to offer, but only because it is so much. I have been taking photos for one month now and it is very easy to learn how to and to take them.
With this camera you don't have to stand around for ages focusing and twicking with the features in order to get a beautiful photograph.
Features
Like most digital cameras it has a LCD display screen in which you can have a look at all the photoghraphs the memory card has and you can delete them or keep them. Whilst in the memory card, you can also zoom in and out of the photographs, this can also be done later when the photos are transfered to the computer with the software that is provided with the camera.
It is amazing how good quality the photghraphs are. Even when zooming them, the quality is kept.
It has a flash wich works very well and photographs taken at night and indoors are as clear as during daytime outdoors.
Even though I can't be bothered for most of the time to focuse an image properly (you can do this manually if you want), the camera seems to do it by itself. I still can't figer out how some images come out so well...
It has an option to control for red eyes also. In my experience with previous cameras this function hasn't workes properly, but this one actually works and you get an accurate image of the person's eyes.
You have the function to take smaller or larger photos. It also allows you to record video sequnces and sound. I haven't tried this yet, but i am told it is not disapointing.
It connects to the television and you can see the photographs in the memory stick in your screen.
However it can't be used as a webcam, which is disappointing for the money you pay for it.
Battery
The battery lasts a long time (not sure hoe long, but at least until memory stick is full) and it doesn't take long to charge at all.
Transfer
Transfering the photographs to the computer couldn't be easier. After installing the software that comes with it, you just connectc the camera to the computer via a USB cable and port. The photos start downloading after you choose what to do with them; send them by email, publish them in web page, save them in file or copy them to cd. It doesn't take long either, about 3m. for 100 photoghraphs.
The look
The camera is of a medium size. In my opinion, it could be smaller. Official measures state a size of 108x515x351 mm. It is not very heavy and can be easily carried in my handbag.
It's silver in colour and it looks very sleek. The LCD display is on the back on the left hand side with zooming buttons on the top right hand side of the back. Other function buttons are under the zoom ones.
Where to buy
You can find this camera almost anywhere that sells similar products, like amazon, pc world, dixons, etc. The cheaper I have found is in pixmania, for GBP226. Following the good reviews of pixmania site i would recommend to buy here.

Advantages: Easy to use, sure shot, amazing pictures everytime and for those who want to be David Baily, this has a range of special little features that will enhance your pictures. Disadvantages: Memory sticks are costly
Advantages: light to carry ,easy to use, simple instructions in book on how to use Disadvantages: no carrying case, only supply lowest memory card so have to buy another
