The first time I used this camera was a trip to the Galapagos and Amazon. Two days into the Amazon leg of the trip the LCD screen got damaged do to high levels of humidity. The best way I could describe the damage was a 'blob' of blur on the LCD screen (a section of the screen was distorted). I was annoyed to say the least. I had to switch to the optical view finder, and I noticed that the picture field that was viewed was not what was copied. This meant that if I say a whole tree through the optical view finder, when the picture was transferred to the computer or printed part of the tree might be missing.
This camera has another fall back it's steady hand feature does not work that well. There have been countless times when someone has taken a picture of me and it turns out blurry. This camera does take nice pictures when on a tripod, or when you can keep it still.
I chose this camera because of its small package, and simple features. The camera consists of five areas of well placed buttons. There is a wheel on the back that you turn to switch features. If you have a little bit of photographical knowledge you can chose to control the shutter speed or aperture. With this wheel you can switch to play back mode and moves. There are other functions but these are the ones I use most. There is a zoom button, and a collection of buttons organized in a circle that allow you to change the flash setting (always flash, flash only when the light meter says light is needed, and never flash). There is a button that allows you to revue the picture you just took quickly. The last 'most used' button is the megapixal changer, and when in revue mode is used to delete.
On the topic of deletion of pictures I wish this camera contained a 'delete all pictures' off your memory stick button - as there have been so many times when the stick is full and I needed to sit down for 10 minutes and delete the pictures one by one. I can stand having it take a while to delete the pictures one by one and that taking time, but I wish the picture taking rate was faster. The blurb on the top it says just keeps on shooting - and this is one of the reasons why I got this camera yet it picture taking rate it still to slow for my preference.
I am always imprested at the quality of digital zoom (3x) on Sony's (this is my third Sony digital camera) and this one did not let me down on that front. The 7.2 megipicals also allow for remarkably large prints.
