Advantages: Sturdy build, good quality pictures for its price, video out Disadvantages: Menu control abit tricky, some buttons abit small
The Sony DSC P51 is my first step into digital photography, and I'm happy.
Before buying this camera, I studied the market closely to see what was and was not considered hot. I then sat down and worked out a budget. To help decide this, I had to be clear what I wanted from a digital camera, as it seems that there was no end to choice as long as the price was right.
I was not interested in high quality, almost professional spec photos, merely snap ... ...matching my needs - the Sony P51 seemed to top the bill. For me, the clinching spec was its “video out” ability, allowing pictures to be viewed on a TV screen or recorded to video.
I have taken many pictures with the camera and been very pleased with its results. Despite the camera being mainly automatic, the operator does has some control over settings such as white balance, spot metering, flash power etc etc. I am not interested in taking over ...

Advantages: Numerous settings/Lots of choice & great software Disadvantages: None that I can see
I love this camera, first because it was a gift from someone special. And, second, because it suits my purposes just fine. It's a good size, handy, not bulky with lens attachments. I like it for it's complete portability [I've taken pictures on the road, and while driving --which I don't advise anyone doing] The visual display shows exactly which picture you are taking so you get a 'preview'. The display gives you a choice of displaying all your ... ...can crop in the camera BEFORE you put the pictures in the computer. You can zoom in and out. There are settings on the camera that allow you to take 'sepia-tone'- kind of old fashioned type pictures, and even a setting for black and white. If you like variety , this is the camera for you. The software disk that comes with the camera will let you crop and add special effects, frames, borders, and even add other pictures to your pictures -yes you can ...

At first the camera doesnt look too pleasing but believe me i have taken so many high quality pictures with its 2 megapixcel rate and high shutter speed as well as its excellent battery life.
The camera is a little expensive at around £200 but is worth every penny and saves hundreds on film and development costs.
The camera is supplied with a 16 MB card which is a little small and holds about 25 pictures at a time but memory upgrades are quite ...

Advantages: good picture quality Disadvantages: maybe be difficult to use for some
...doing it. Design-wise, Sony places the lens for this camera on the far left side, making it virtually impossible for your right hand to get it the way. Another benefit is that this camera unlike many tiny cameras doesn't feel cramped by your face when looking through the viewfinder and holding with both hands. Something to consider before buying the smaller models. In terms of ease of use, the zoom rocker is on the back for thumb control, where it ... ...mpeg movie mode (no sound but very cool), and setup (where you'll find the 6x digital zoom - be sure to turn it ON, as it only engages at the end of the optical zoom range). Also included is SCN "screen" mode, for twilight/panorama mode (I suggest you refer to the manual on that one.) But all in all this is a great camera and I would recommend it to most people. ...

Advantages: Makes good, clear photos Disadvantages: Buttons are too small
...I decided on buying the Sony Cybershot DSC-P51. The first time I layed eyes on the camera, I knew immediately what every button and dial would do. It fit well in my hands and it worked immediately. So I started making random pictures with it and I printed out the best ones. These looked good from a distance, but were satisfactory at best when I took a closer look. Next, I started to play with the different options ad settings. I found that the dial ... ...don't include sound. But that's not the point of a digital camera. The Sony Cybershot DSC-P51 is a good camera for the beginner, especially for those who only use the photos on the Internet. But if you're a professional, don't bother. There are other (more expensive) digital camera's for you. ...
