Advantages: Lots of features, good quality pictures, video, it's Sony. Disadvantages: You will have to buy a larger Memory Stick than the one it comes with.
I have had my Sony DSC for a couple of years now. Apart from when I dropped it once, it has not let me down. It's very easy to use and changing between modes is simple, you just have to turn the wheel on the top of the camera. There are many different modes, for example beach shot, scenic view shot, motion shot etc. These are very useful in the appropriate situation but most of the time the normal mode is fine for taking pictures.
This camera can ... ...camera can take all the Sony memory sticks, including Memory Stick Pro, as well as some third party ones. The Sony Memory Sticks can be quite expensive though, my camera came with a 32MB card but you need about 512MB to realistically get a decent number of pictures taken, although if you change the camera setting to use a smaller resolution (say 1 mega pixel) then you can get hundreds of pictures on it. Most of the time I leave the quality setting ...

Advantages: Cheap, well made; full featured semi-pro Disadvantages: proprietray memory stick & related software
...Europe on your next holiday. Sony provide a 1 yr International warranty completely ignoring the British Imperialism's establishment inflated UK prices.
A 4-megapixel camera gives you professional photo resolution up to A4 with a 3x optical zoom lens and 11x digital zoom. Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-P73 is no stripped-down "entry-level" camera, it sports features like a 5-point auto focus system that actually works properly, full manual exposure control, ... ...only Canon I would suggest, Sony includes a set of 2100 mAh rechargeable NiMH batteries that can capture up to 410 pictures. FAB. The Canon are better because with industry standard compact flash you get much better downloading software and very much cheaper memory eg 256k at £16 rather than 2x128MB Sony at £45.
Downloading photos is the achilles' heel. Clearly much less work has gone into the software for memory sticks than compact flash. To download ...

Advantages: Excellent all round camera for the beginner. Easy to use and a good price for a Sony product. Disadvantages: Memory stick is accessed through the battery compartment. Shutter lag is long. Video is very low quality.
I have owned a DSC-73 for about 8 months, having seen it advertised as a bundle with batteries for a very good price on a popular internet site.
I have found that the camera is very good at taking still photo's and using PC manipulation software ie. cropping or zooming will not generally ruin the quality.
I particularly wanted a reliable camera and having read on the net that some other makes (not Sony) have mechanical shutter failure problems ... ...The fact is I have not had any cause for concern, enjoying a trouble free time.
The DSC-73 does have some down sides to its use. Shutter lag, which is non existent in 35m cameras gets in the way a little, which is ok when you are taking still shots. Action shots are so much harder to get right, relying heavily on the use of the lcd screen to preview snaps.
The video function is best described as a fun facilty rather than a serious tool. Playback ...

Advantages: Great picture quality, easy to use, option to record videos Disadvantages: Only comes with a 16MB memory stick
I have owned this camera for just over a year now and I have found it to be very useful (especially once I had upgraded my memory stick to 512MB). I have taken over 1000 photos so far of everything from family get-togethers to holiday scenes. The pictures are great quality, particularly when set to 4 mega-pixels, however the lower settings are perfectly acceptable for everyday use. It also has the option to record video. Although not great quality ... ...great feature to have as there are some moments in life that cannot be captured in just one photo. With a 512MB memory card on the standard quality setting you can record up to 11 minutes, and on the lowest quality setting you can record around 3 hours worth! My only problem is that the batteries run down quite quickly (although I think that this is due to the fact that I take so many videos) and I would recommend that you invest in a spare pair ...
