Sony has I think been very proud of this camera's alleged face-detection ability, and as far as I can tell it does work! Why you'd need it though is another issue. Might as well autofocus on your friend's face... Unless you were too drunk to decide which part of the frame said face is in, in which case it'd be extremely useful. I guess.

OVERVIEW
I bought this camera while on holiday, and with a minimum of fuss it takes excellent auto-function pictures and is slim enough to fit in your back pocket. It has good battery life and sports a user-friendly menu system for adjusting the settings. Excellent value for money; especially considering I bought it in Dollars with hard-earned Pounds!
FEATURES I PERSONALLY LIKED A LOT
What attracted me to this model over other similarly priced ones was its 5x internal optical zoom lens, something not usually found in a camera this size, and certainly not internal. It allows one to get closer to the object, and it really makes a difference over the 3x optical zoom standard on most pocket cams. It came in very handy when I used it at a football match to take pictures of the pitch.
The camera has a handy "all-auto" setting which allows decent pictures to be taken with a minimum of fuss. However it is more fun (I think!) to use the advanced menu setting which gives a plethora of options in, albeit not full control over, functions such as focus and white balance.
The zoom combined with the 8.1 megapixels resolution, which means that you can enlarge the photos to about four times the size of the average computer screen without seeing any pixelation or graininess. Great if you want to take your own family photos to hang on the wall.
Although the camera doesn't, as far as I can tell, have a full manual mode, the automatic features can be tweaked to give the exposure time you wish. For instance it has a point autofocus and a point light meter reading function which allows you to decide exactly which element of your composition you wish to enhance. It also allows you to take nice cityscape pictures at night. Naturally, however, this requires the camera to be held very steadily or put on a tripod, as the maximum exposure time is quite long.
The camera copes generally very well with low light conditions, and the preset whitebalance settings are very helpful in correcting colour distortion from fluorescent or incandescent lighting when photographing indoors.
I also used the camera to take action pictures, and in daylight it takes razor sharp images of rapidly moving objects (in my case a football game).

The camera is small, sleek, extremely light at 140g, but sturdy enough for easy operation. It has an extremely large LCD at almost 3 inches which makes both previewing photos and navigating menus very simple. If looks matter to you, you can't go wrong with this in black or red.
RANDOM OTHER FEATURES (I've picked a few; this could go on...)
Other less useful but fun party features include colour settings so you can take black and white, sepia or vivid colour pix for those who can't be bothered booting up PhotoShop.
For the same user group there is also the option to do in-camera simple photo editing like brightness correction and cropping. This is not the easiest to use, but with limited buttons to carry out functions it's as good as it could get.
The camera also does a quick slideshow with stock music using your photos, which you can organise into folders if you wish. Could be good for an evening with your gran who hasn't got a computer but needs to see the pictures in enlarged format! Basically, if this camera doesn't do it, you probably didn't know you didn't need it.
I guess.
The camera is "HD ready" which means it can display it's beautiful contents on an HDTV. If you have one. I don't so haven't tried this one.
DRAWBACKS
The drawbacks of the camera are that it comes with a separate battery charger and no camera power cable, so that if you want to hook it up to your pc for a major session, you might run out of power.
Another minus is that the little door at the side of the camera which gives access to battery and memory card is a little loose. I am not sure if this is a design weakness or the result of my camera being a store display copy. However both battery and card are safely stuck into the camera, so there's no danger of them falling out.
I also think that a camera at this price should have more manual options; manual focus, aperture and exposure times at the very least. Then again, that is my personal opinion and maybe I am asking too much. Overall this camera presents excellent value for money for semi-advanced personal use.
Specs:
Resolution: 8.1 megapixels
Dimensions: 91.8 x 59.2 x 22.3mm.
Weight: 141g
Batteries: Lithium ion. Battery and charger supplied. I'd say it takes about 100 pictures per charge, though this could vary with how much you fiddle with the camera in between. I fiddle a lot.
Memory: 31mb built in memory; takes Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Duo Pro cards
Navigation: Uses four-way button to navigate menus.
Advantages: The menu system works great,It's pretty,The LCD display is really beautiful Disadvantages: nothing
On paper, this was the camera I wanted. Here were my criteria: (1) Shirt-pocket size. I was sick of subconsciously deciding NOT to take a camera along because I didn't want to lug about a bag of camera-plus-accessories-plus-adapter-plus-plus-plus. I wanted something small and self-contained that I'd get used to carrying with me all the time. The DSC-T100 is about the size of a deck of standard playing cards. (2) More than 3x optical zoom. I've had ... ...cam (too much zoom, at least for my shaky limbs). Something in between is the ticket. This camera is 5x. (3) High but not necessarily state-of-the-art number of pixels. This camera is 8.1 megapixels. (4) BIG LCD screen. As big as possible. This camera is 3" diagonally. (5) Flexible but easy-to-use shooting features, so all of my family members would be tempted to learn how to operate it. Like other reviewers, I was reluctant to buy a Sony, but for ...

Advantages: HD enabled with easy to use interface. Disadvantages: Overall features and quality.
...CONCLUTION The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T100 is perfect for the general photographer who’s interests include basic snap shots, however I would not recommend this camera to people who intend to use it for semi-professional or professional shots since its features and specs are somewhat limited and the overall quality of the shots are less than professional. Its supposed HD enabled capacity is a major plus to this camera and maybe its only real positive ...

Quick review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T100
I can't speak too highly of this camera. It's the third digital camera I've owned and at last I've found one that I like so much I take it EVERYWHERE with me so I'm snap-happy! What I like most are the following features: (1) the quality of photos taken with flash; they don't have the 'bleached-out' look that many have. I was amazed at the quality of some I took in a nightclub; (3) the quality of photos generally - you can't take a bad picture with this camera; (2) the size of the viewfinder screen - lovely and big! (2) compact size and design; (3) easy-to-use menus. I've found that everyone who sees this camera wants one! ...

I took this camera travelling with me on a 6 month adventure around the world. I researched the product in depth before going away and was very pleased with the result. The camera in my opinion has produced lots of high quality pictures that I am currently arranging in a scrapbook!! The features on the camera in my opinion are suitable for a novice photographer and the camera can be used on manual mode for more advanced photographers. The Carl Zeiss ... ...defined pictures with high quality resolution. I also liked the special effects function which allows you to crop and apply effects on pictures instantly. I found the camera easy to use and liked the overall design, the front slide down lense cover kept dirt eg. sand away from the lense. I also found the camera to be durable as it took a bit of a battering whilst we were away.
I would definately recommend this model for a compact, easy to use all ...
