I received the Sony DSC-T200 as a gift from my father in law earlier this year.
First off, when I looked at the package - instantly impressed. If you want to give a digital camera as a gift to someone, you could do far worse than this camera.

I also own a digital SLR so the comparisons come straight after opening the box, charging the battery, ... ...touch screen, great addition, although somewhat gimmicky, it does, at times, seem to speed up the selection of options compared to pressing buttons and selecting menus. It is clear, large, and easily viewable in direct sunlight.
The menu system was a bit confusing to me at first, and also at first, certain options are not available until they are activated through one of the advanced menu settings - in my opinion everything should be available right ...

...finally went for the Sony DSC-T200 The packaging of the camera instantly impressed me they d say first impressions count and this one did for me.

The touch screen, is a little gimmicky, but it has the advantage of speeding up your selections when selecting menus. It is clear, large, and and one of the most important aspects ... ...the sun light.
One of the problems that I did have was that some of the settings have to be activated through the advanced settings section.This does slow you down a bit when starting off .Would be better if everything was there from the start
It has a large optical zoom which i did find useful but the delay in clearing the menu selection from the screen was a bit of a pain to be honest and the menu options are not that diverse when you look at ...

Advantages: great touchscreen, amazing features!! Disadvantages: cant think of any.
The stylish colourful and slim dsc-T200 offers a wide range of play back functions including the paint function and smile shutter function.
Which automatically detects a smiling face and triggers the shutter.
Its really clever because if you dont smile the shutter wont trigger so it only takes photos if it detects a hint of smile cool or what, you dont have to set it to that though you can just take normal photos as well.
it has a large clear ... ...you to go to the menu at the touch of a finger.
The camera will cost around £220 in most shops,There is 31mb internal memory, there is also red eye correction which delets the red in a photo when you take, for clear and outsatnding images.
There is a stamina battery life up to 250 shots, until the battery runs out.It has a stylish sliding lense cover for protection.
