There are very few brands out there that I would confess to having any sort of "loyalty" to. However, when it comes to digital cameras, ever since owning the DSC-U30 I have always bought Sony, in particular the Cybershot range because of the design and great lenses. I decided to splash out the £170 (very reasonable price for this bit of kit) for a DSC-T70 recently. This camera comes in four colour options, Pink, Black, Silver or White. I opted for the black one as I feel it is sleeker looking and everyone seems to own a silver camera! This model is the successor to the excellent T20 model which would also have been an excellent choice but with slightly less performance.
I'll start with why I bought it. Firstly, as I said above it is a Sony and I've found you cannot really go wrong with this brand. They have developed a real reputation for themselves for producing excellent quality digital cameras at competitive market prices. The DSC-T70 main features are an 8.2 megapixels CCD, a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, 3x optical zoom without a lens that retracts and a 3" LCD touch screen (Full specs at the end of the review). The outer casing is aluminium which means it is both robust and light. I have on occasion dropped this camera and it still continues to work fine…I would not recommend trying this at home though. I've used a number of Sony cameras with Carl Zeiss lenses. This company has over 150 years experience in optical technologies and their partnership with Sony (which has been making cameras since 1946) has produced what I consider to be the best all round package money can buy in the compact camera range. Given that I can be a bit flash (excuse the pun), I wanted something a little more to show off to my mates and this was provided with the touch screen function on this camera, allowing both easy navigation through the menus and awed looks from my mates! Also important is the face recognition technology which is becoming commonplace in new cameras. This model actually has a function which recognises when someone is smiling! I have no idea how it does it, but it is a useful function which I have used a lot. Also ther eis a "Touch it" function which allows you to actually touch the area on the LCD screen that you wish to focus on. I have also used the red eye retouch function which, as is fairly obvious by the name, allows you to remove red eye from pictures.
The model includes Sony's SuperSteadyShot image stabiliser ensuring no blurry pictures and its high sensitivity allows you to take crystal clear pictures in any kind of lighting. The size of this camera was also a major factor in the purchase. I really liked my old DSC-U30 which was tiny, I knew I wasn't going to get anything that size again without sacrificing specs. Because the T70 does not have a lens that pokes out it makes it really compact and sleek looking. As I have just bought an HD TV, I was also happy with the fact that I could connect my Sony up to my TV via the HD output to view my masterpieces on the big screen.
On to the picture quality and I am very fussy when it comes to my pictures, I do not like blurry, out of focus shots at all. The T70 takes great sharp pictures to rival any other digital camera, the colours and brightness levels are also bang on. At even at maximum zoom the picture quality is still very much up there with what you can expect from a 3x optical zoom model. Indoor pictures with the flash are also very good quality with the flash not as harsh as some models, leaving a softer shot. Any red eye caused by the flash can be cleared away using the built in tool. I would not really recommend an indoor shot without flash. The camera does not focus well in low light so you are best off using the flash for shots in darker conditions. However, after reading some reviews I found that if I increased the ISO I could get some better looking shots in lower light conditions without using the flash - something to bare in mind. The shutter lag (time between pressing the shutter button and the camera recording the shot) is one of the lowest out there which is part of the Cybershot range's appeal, this allows you to take multiple shots in a shorter space of time. The camera also has a video function allowing you to record short videos. This is not a function I use a lot as the quality I have found from digital cameras is not great on either sound or picture.
Overall, this is a light, stylish, easy to use and fantastic quality digital camera. For the money it cost I don't think I could have chosen better. The LCD touch screen is massive and a great innovative function. The lens is superb as I have come to expect from Sony/Carl Zeiss providing clear pictures without distortion. After taking your snaps there are plenty of functions to touch them up and you can show friends and family via a slide show on an HD TV or print pictures directly from the camera. My verdict: Picture Perfect!

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70/B digital camera is a powerful little thing. I got this as my old digital camera broke down. I wanted something reliable, cheap, compact and powerful. I think this camera ticked all the right boxes.
The Sony digital camera comes in four different colours, black, white, pink and silver. The letter at the end of the model number basically represents what colour it is, 'B' is black. 'W' is white, 'P' is pink and 'S' is silver. ... ...on screen icons.
The Sony DSC-T70 has many functions; to start with it is a whopping 8.1 mega pixel camera and uses Carl Zeiss® 3X Optical Zoom Lens Design. ...my decision of going for Sony Cybershot. First of all I needed a sleek camera with powerfull lens and nice zoom feature, since I had a nice 40" lcd, I wanted to have my camera a full HD support. Now voilla, this camera has all features and it is a great buy for me. Few of my mate suggested me to go for Canon and at one point I started to think over it. I saw canon and then compared the two cameras for the same price. T70 had smile shutter like canon, ... ...That is why I chose Sony and not canon. Now, I am very happy with it. The picture quality is awesome and it has 4X optical zoom with 8X Precision Zoom and that is great. The pictures are clear down to the hair and just feel great. ...carry around than my old Sony P200, as it was a bit chunky. The Smile Shutter function is the most exciting thing about the camera, coz it works...sometimes. It doesn't take a smiling picture from certain angles, so if you are not facing the camera and smile it won't take the picture. I.e. you have to face the camera properly and head not too far up OR down otherswise it won't take it either. And sometimes it reacts slower so it takes the picture ... ...your eyes closed, coz it reacted a milisecond late or something.
I find it a bit tricky to hold the camera sometimes, as the touch screen is very big and takes up all the space at the back, so there is literally nowhere to hold the camera unless you touch the screens which you try hard to avoid in case you accidentally change some of the settings. So if you try to take a picture of yourself and/or with others you need to practice.

The T70 is truly a fantastic piece of kit. It is stylish, light and has a lot of functions not available with any other brand. To start with, you get the choice of four different colours - baby pink (slightly sparkly, very girly!) , jet black, brushed silver and white.The camera itself is slimline, with ... ...lens (which turns the camera on in approximately 1.5 seconds - quick start up for those spontaneous shots!)
There are loads of features available on this camera, but main selling points have to be the 8.2 megapixel CCD, Carl Zeiss lens, 3x optical zoom, also pretty robust.
