Tiny little professional. That’s what I call Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T900. It’s perfectly aware what is expected of it, and does it with aplomb and alacrety. It is impressive and impressive all the way. It’s not just like that billions world over think of Sony first and then any body else while choosing a camera and prepaid pay for it.
THE DESIGN:
The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC T900, is an elegant, stylish, ultra compact digital camera with almost all the latest of technologies tucked inside it. Boasting of class with metal body , sliding front plate and folded optics. The wrist strap wounds up from the right to behave as a thumbrest. Just the power and shutter buttons right on top. The zoom ring loops the shutter release and a switch behind the ring to toggle between capturing movies and stills. Playback control is at the top of the screen and the battery, memory Stick compartment, a tripod mount, multi-out dock all are at the bottom. The USB/AV cable connector is also here. Just slide down the metal lens wrap and shoot, take care of your finger not coming in the way of your lens and object.
Lens: 4x (zoom), f3.5-4.6 (aperture) 35-140mm (35mm equivalent), Carl Zeiss as in most of Sony.
File Format support (still/vedio): JPEG/MPEG-4
Battery Life: Rated at 200 shots.
TOUCH SCREEN:
Sony Cyber Shot DSC T900’s has an excellent high contras Xtra Fine display. T900 seems to collect dirt specially from fingerprints more often. So constant wiping of fingerprints is annoying. Also there is a possible question mark on Touch Screen’s responsiveness. Best, use the stylus (Paint Pen as dubbed by Sony) which is included.
PERFORMANCE:
The Cyber Shot DSC T900 incorporates, like its predecessor, it’s own version of intelligent auto mode which is very useful in the sense that you just aim at the object and shoot, the sophistcated system analyses the scene on its own and shooses the correct settings for the exposuer. The optical image stabilization provided for 4x zoom works perfectly with out any hiccups. T900 double anti-blurr technology provides pretty good Optical SteadyShot the high sensitivity maximizing at a respaectable ISO 3200.
Cyber Shot DSC T900 goes up from 80 to upto 3200 but as typical of all dSLRs the grace falls off apreciably above ISO400. Sometimes the reds are too red but on the whole color and exposer is perfect and a treat to the eye. But gives a grain or two even at ISO80 when images are view in full size.
921k dot resolution wide screen LCD provides excellent utilization for framing and reviewing not only stills but vedios also. A 4GB Memory Stick Pro or Duo will give an extra hour of footage. The smart T900’s screen displays the image before your lens at 4:3 ratio.
The Sony Cyber-ShotDSC-T900 is an extremely compact, attractive to say the least and fast snapshot camera albeit with questionable battery life, touchscreen and the quality of image hardly justifies the price tag attched to it. But then it’s more of ‘status’ camera endowed with fashionable and great design which ofcourse has its own price. This may put off some one who is staunch techie but customers knows better. No doubt you can capture a precious moment real fast.
A REAL NOTE OF CAUTION: Since you have decied in favor of Sony Cyber-Shot DSC T900 please use with maximum care, the spares are too damn expensive.
