THE IDEA: This summer me and my girlfriend simply decided to do a bit of exciting travelling around Europe and capture all these exciting moments these trips offer you....
THE PROBLEM: Unfortunately neither of us owned a digital camera with the capability to offer a larger than 3 megapixel resolution than the previous camera we owned.....
THE SOLUTION: We have decided to purchase something more exciting and modern with the capability to offer us what we were looking for....a photography experience that would match the exciting sightseeings in Europe and a product worth of its money.
After an extensive research in the multi-world of digital cameras nowadays i am proud to be the owner of the exciting SONY CYBER-SHOT DSC-T9 DIGITAL CAMERA.

Since the resolutions this camera are capable of will fill up the internal memory (56megs) with only a few pictures at maximum resolution, I would recommend purchasing extra memory sticks (256 meg minimum) when you purchase the camera.
CONTINUED: The Sony Cybershot DSC-T9 is also capable of capturing video either in a "slideshow" fashion with the "multi burst mode" (7 fast shots at full resolution to 60 fast shots at 320x240 resolution) or as actual video footage at 640 X 480 at 30 or 16.6 fps and 160 x 112.
PERFORMANCE
In a few words the Sony Cybershot DSC-T9 is a powerful tool in the hands either an experienced user or a first time user.
Firstly of course you cannot use the camera rightaway from the box simply because SONY claerly instructs you to charge the battery for many hours before the very first use of the product. So if you are looking for a camera for today's barchelor party this in definitely not for you!
As soon as your bachelor party is finished and unfortunately you couldn't use the camera the battery will be ready charged and the only thing you do is place it in the camera to choose which resolution and light effects you want to use while shooting.
The image quality, as you will probably experience by yourself beyond excellent in all resolutions from 1280x960 and up. Color and clarity will fanchinate you. A remarkable thing i experienced while using the camera is the fact that even the shootings taken under low resolution were amazingly clear. I recommend you of course to use any the highest possible resolution provided by the camera...that's ofcourse one of the many reasons you bought it or planning to..
Furthermore the Cybershot camera can even take pictures in "letterbox" size (1920x1080) which is an excellent resolution for viewing your photos on a widescreen television and excite your friends and family.
Now let's get serious..... The real advantage of this camera for me o is the "lens shift image stabilization" feature/technology which helped me as iam a lousy photo shooter to correct for motion blur from the camera being moved while the picture is being taken. Sony states that this is accomplished by an "optical image stabilizer, utilizing two imaging gyros". Never heard of that before but i definitely belive them as i was turned from a lousy photo shooter into a proffessional overnight. :-) :-)
The DSC-T9 will absolutely compensate you even if a slight hand movement occured while shooting the perfect picture with you girlfriend/boyfriend and believe me that while you are printing the photo you will be amazed how a great deal was to buy this camera. Wait and See!
Ok now let's mention the fact that you cannot simply use extreme movement while using the camera because the results will not be pretty (i've tried it). It can help seriously destroy the perfect moment with your beloved!
Moving on i must ensure you that the zoom feature works very well and indicates on the screen just how much you are currently zoomed in as well as if you are in the optical or digital zoom range. This is important to note since digital zooming tends to produce images with more artifacts and of less overall quality which can actually be noticed when taking pictures at the Cybershot's maximum resolution.
Unfortunately using the Flash with the DSC-T9 was a bit disappointing as "red eye" effects appeared in some of the photos I took of my friends and family when using it. While this can be corrected later in editing programs it is somethng to note if you would like to simply take your pictures and print them out immediately. Ofcourse this happenned to a small percentage (probably 4%-5%) of the photos i've taken but it prevented me to enjoy them in their whole.
CONTROL SCREEN
The 2.5" LCD screen on the back of the camera is bright, clear and provides excellent preview shots of your recently taken photos.
The controls to the right of the screen are easily laid out provide fairly easy navigation of the DSC-T9's menu's and options
CONNECTIVITY & DOWNLOADS
The Sony Cybershot DSC-T9 provides you with a feuture which allows you to connect the camera directly to your PC/laptop through a USB port. It also allows you to transfer pictures from the internal memory onto a Sony Duo Memory stick (independent purchase-not included in the package).
Images are stored in standard JPEG format and are easily viewed by most computer programs.
This was a major reason for me to buy this camera and while I have used this feature- to move files to my computer- I have to admit that it was less of a hassle (for me at least) just to take pictures directly onto the memory stick and then move the stick into the slot on my computer, allowing me to easilly access the card.
SOFTWARE IN THE BOX
While the Sony Cybershot comes with a CD of software and drivers, I didn't load the majority of the programs as I already had Adobe Photoshop on my laptop and other programmes that you may need. Based on this I really cannot make any further comments on the general quality and usage of the software except to say that the drivers installed without a problem as expected.
BATTERY ISSUE
This is the only real issue I have with the DSC-T9. Sony requires that you use their proprietary battery packs with the Cybershot (at a cost of about 24£ each).
This can add considerably to the cost of the camera over its lifetime due to wanting spares, losing them or the batteries just going bad over time.
One nice thing is that the TSC-T9 provides you with the "time remaining" indicator to be extremely accurate, letting you know the exact minute when the camera will shut down due to lack of power.
While using the Cybershot, I have noticed that it is capable of taking several dozen pictures on a single charge and has yet to "run out" on me over the course of a day's site seeing after having been charged the night before.
Advantages: Small, high resolution, point and shoot camera Disadvantages: Poor battery life, removing battery to charge, shaky images
...**What's in the Box**

:: Background ::
I recieved this camera as a present. I was very interested in it and my girlfriend soon caught wind of this. She paid £230 for it imported from America which included customs tax.
This review is for the casual or ameteur photographer. My views on this review come as a casual photographer with the need for photos for general use such as parties and web graphics to holiday snaps.

Upon opening the box the contents ... ...A battery inc charger, Documentations and instructions, PC connection cables. The camera does not include a memory card but does come equipped with internal memory (58mb, about 20 hi-res images), but there is a expansion slot for a memory stick duo ( I bought a 2gb one from eBay for £15, which is an amazing deal. Camera shops still sell 256mb ones for £40!)
The battery life of the camera isn't that great for a compact. If you are planning on taking ...

Advantages: Small, feels sturdy and Sony quality assured. Disadvantages: Price!
...I am a very loyal sony customer and that was a big consideration when buying this camera. But once again Sony have come up smelling of Roses and have delivered 110%.
One of the nicest features of the camera is its ability to take pictures the instant that you press the shutter release. Not just once but over and over again. I have used other cameras in the past and have found that too often the perfect picture is missed because of the lag time caused ...

clumpy, clunky design and controls, too big to be a true compact, interface pauses, zoom irritating, not worth the upgrade from G3 (*)
