Advantages: Excellent sound and video quality; stylish design

...which is handy if like to watch your films in the dark as we do. If all you use the DAV-C770 for is to view DVDs then you will find that it provides an unbelievable experience. We also use the system for TV/VCR audio and we also use it to listen to our MP3 CDs. With this system's ProLogic II decoding, it can produce 5.1 channel (surround) sound from a 2 channel (stereo) source. It does this rather well too! Other than that there are many simulated sound types. Some to sound like famous theatres others to make sports events seem even more realistic, adding echo and other effects. ...I needed surround sound, I needed something to play my pink floyd SACD'S on. I saw this beauty in the shop window and i bought it. Reckless you might say,maybe ,but for the price I got everything I needed and more. Not only does it play dvd's but also c.d's,and dark side of the moon scared the hell out of me when i put it on. Set up is a doddle though without scart it is a little tricky plugging in.Everything is built in to the slim line box including a radio reciever and amp nothing less than you would expect from an all-in-one. Sattelite speakers pump out good all round sound and the bass is enough to rattle any body's teeth. o.k so this is not that new now, technology moves on but for good home cinema not bad for an oldie... ...What a dream! I picked up my multi region Sony DAVS888 from Richer Sounds at a real bargain price of under £500! This was a special promotion and was about £150 cheaper than anything I could source on line. The connecting up of the system was not perhaps as simple as one would like, but considering I have a TV, video, DVDR and PS2 running into the amp its hardly surprising that I was a little "wired"! As for the sound and picture quality, for this money you would be hard pressed to find a better system. The slimline amp looks sleek and sexy, and the column speakers add some simplistic style.
