I have owned this Home Cinema System for a couple of months now (it replaces a £200 JVC system). I run it with a Samsung 37" LCD TV (connected via HDMI cable). I purchased it for £365, where some places were selling it for £599!!! (before you buy, shop around).

I wont talk about the specification, because it can be viewed on the Sony website.

What Attracted Me To This System?

I wanted something that was modern looking and sophisticated.
It was highly rated by What Hi-Fi?
The speakers are very "subtle" and wall mountable - I didn't want large in your face speakers.
Sony is a quality brand that I rate.
I wanted something that gave good sound quality from music CD's (I use it as a Hi-Fi as well).

My Verdict?

Whilst I wouldn't class myself as a "tv/vision/hi-fi" buff, the sound and picture that this produces is superb. The music quality from CD's is cracking, considering this is not a dedicated music player. The bass is not overpowering, just a quality feeling. The mid range from the 5 wall mounted speakers is also superb (especially given their size - I still wander how they can produce the sound they do!!!). When watching DVD's the sound quality really does bring the film to life (very realistic sound reproduction).

Setting up the DVD player was straight forward and is very easy to operate. Touch sensitive buttons are mounted on the top of the unit (above the display) - the only "push" buttons are the power and eject button. There is no tray to slide in and out, just a CD slot. The less mechanical moving parts the better!!

Initially, I thought that £365 was only just about justifiable on a "Home Cinema" system, but I can honestly say that I'm glad I spent the money. After 2 months of ownership and use, i'd recommend it to anyone. Only time will tell its longevity.
