...What a dream!
I picked up my multi region SonyDAVS888 from Richer Sounds at a real bargain price of under £500! This was a special promotion and was about £150 cheaper than anything I could source on line.
The connecting up of the system was not perhaps as simple as one would like, but considering I have a TV, video, DVDR and PS2 running into the amp its hardly surprising that I was a little "wired"!
As for the sound and picture quality, for this money you would be hard pressed to find a better system.
The slimline amp looks sleek and sexy, and the column speakers add some simplistic style.
Crystal clear picture quality and with a booming bass from the sub-woofer, you gotta buy this!...

...In late 2003 I purchased a Sony TV, video and surround sound system. I chose Sony because I'd heard that their reliability was legendary & I limited my choice to the Sony brand for compatibility. I searched their range for the best deals and researched several review sites - eventually choosing an KD32DX40 IDTV, a DAV-S 500 home theatre system and an SLV-SE820 VCR. Within 12 months the processor in the VCR failed. 12 months later my DAV-S surround sound system stopped playing dvds & cds and would not eject the inserted music cd.
I have been told that the DVD controller board is faulty and will cost in excess of £120 to fix + engineers time.
The dvd player played ok at first - it wasn't the awesome, breathtaking cinema type performance I was led to expect, but a rather more faded affair - the rear speakers seemed incredibly feeble...

I bought this unit as a replacement for my pioneer 313 home cinema system and I cannot fault it. It is a very reasonable price for a complete system with HDMI output (I paid £162 for a multi region one)
