...Almost certainly not! This camcorder boasts digital camcorder, camera and an mp3 player combo! It is however very hard on most pockets as it is priced in excessof 400 pounds! However if you are really inot photography or just want some pro and easy to handle equipment to take snapshots for special occasions yourself, then this is prime product for you. For those of you who dont understand the megapixel mullarky, its just really high picture resolution (5 megapixels) that is crisp and graphically magnificent for every possible picture. You can take still pictures to mount on the wall and hook your camera right up to your printer via the handy cable (direct printing support), or you can take audiovisual clips of anything your heart desires as it has a very sensitive microphone (so dont mutter while filming!) and has a digital zoom of up... ...camera is compatible with the old Minolta lenses - which are cheaper and often better that the Sony ones (for more advanced photos). The manual settings are easy to use, however are a little rigid, and I find do not give you the same flexibility as some of the more expensive digital SLRs or manual ones (Cannon ones are very good for this), however for the price of the Sony, the settings are reasonable. Down to the most important point - image quality. I cannot really find fault with this at all, and this is comparable to some of the much more expensive Canon and Pentax SLRs! The lens provided with this camera is not the best for very close up and macro photography, however it tends to perform very well for any other shots - and there is always the option to change to a better lens for these purposes. ...The Sony HDR-CX7 camcorder is very well designed with plenty of features and records in high definition. The camcorder has a black outer shell with lines that add an executive look to it. The look will easily let people know you have an expensive and top of the range kit in your hands. The camcorder is amazingly compact taking into account all the features it has. It's actually 2.75" (W) x 2.75" (H) x 5.25" (D) and only weighing around 15 ounces including the card, battery and strap. I personally found the look of the camcorder very appealing to me and the front portion is dedicated to the beast of a lens, by the 10x Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T Star lens.
