I was wondering whether to go for this or the 350, but the incredible price at which I got this one (£250 after mail in rebate) settled it for me. I already had some old lenses from my Minolta Dynax 800si so I bought the body only. Handling and setting up is very intuitive. I hardly needed to consult the manual. Of course, it may have helped that I have used a Sony DSC V1 previously, but the controls are generally self-evident and simple to use. It takes CF and Memory Stick duo (I got a 4GB CF card for under £15). Inserting the battery and card is quick and easy; the camera feels solid and well built. You start shooting as soon as the battery is charged and even without much twiddling, the picture quality is superb. It is fast and responsive. The only minor drawback is the shutter noise, but this is not really enough to detract from the whole experience. (Remember the story of the spy who said it would be suicide to be caught with a hidden spy cam? Far better to turn up and be as obtrusive and touristy as possible with a big noisy camera...) I am not a professional and I do not make very large enlargements. Print quality upto A4 is superb. If you want large prints, you may wish to consider the 350, but the 300 is enough for me.
