The Sony DSR-400L is a professional camcorder that pushes the envelope for high quality images in a small and efficient shoulder-mount design. It captures high resolution video in low light or bright light with the advanced 3 x 2/3-inch POWER HAD EX chip set. This configuration includes the standard black and white viewfinder and the tripod adapter plate.
Advantages: Packed with extras, looks good and feels good. Disadvantages: See review for the very minor con`s.
...a certain camera may have certain settings and options that they don't actually work too well and the images suffer when they are used. This is rarely the case with DSLR`s because they are designed to be used manually and it is certainly not the case with this unit. Every function offered works brilliantly to produce stunning images.
To make some comparisons I went out and about with this unit as well as a Canon 400D and a Nikon D60, I took a photo using the same lens type on each camera in fully automatic mode and when the images are compared the one from the Sony A350 is clearer, sharper and all together more impressive, I then began to manually set settings (the same for each camera of course) and the only time the Sony was beaten and even then only just was when the Nikon D60 produced better results in poor light with a long shutter time...

Advantages: Very fast in transferring files, rather cheap, keeps thousands of pictures and video clips Disadvantages: 1GB not enough for some, very small making it hard to find if lost
...I bought a Sony 1GB M2 memory card because my Sony ericcsson K770i internal memory was just not enough.
The sony M2 card is very small and comes in black only
I bought mine for £10 in one of those street mobile shops that unlock mobiles. I actually thought this was cheap for a Sony M2 card as you would normally find them at £15 or maybe more in electronic shops such as Comet, Pc World, Jessop's, Currys etc.
The Sony M2 card comes in a thick plastic package, which has to be opened by a scissors or knife as it's hard to open by bare hands.
Inside the package there are instruction on how to use the M2 card and there are some warnings on how to avoid the M2 card from being damaged. These warning are written in a few languages, for those who might not understand English perfectly.
I mainly bought the M2 card to store pictures in my...

Advantages: Excellent resolution Disadvantages: noise at higher ISO some purple fringing
...this comment by stating that I am yet to use a Canon 1DS (£5000+) or Kodak 14N (£3000+) and would expect them to be better. Detail is exceptional as is colour rendition, I am a big fan of the Real colour setting for landscapes which I feel has an almost Velvia like quality. This is all about personal taste of course and I know that many people prefer the standard setting and I would also for portrait work.
Is it all good news? Not exactly. You see Sony has squeezed 8 million pixels onto a sensor much smaller than a digital SLR this means that the pixels are smaller and the theory is that this will lead to noisy images, is this the case? Well yes it is but in my opinion this is not a showstopper. At ISO 64 and 100 the noise is pretty much non-existent, it is visible at ISO 200 and ISO 400 and 800 are noisy. This is of course when viewed...
