PD-150 has just been discontinued but all the features and this review are valid for the successor, PD-170. the camera returned good colour, great night shots and overall ease of handling. the mini DV tapes have negligible gen loss upto 8 recordings. the front end being heavy, do not plan on shots of more than 1 min if you need a really steady shot (unless you have really strong arms). great piece of equipment for live television, reality TV, wildlife, corporate videos and indoor shots. not so great when you are trying to capture the great wide open. reasonably priced at the $ 2400 mark (add about $ 300 for an amateur grade tripod).

I work in Television and find this camera being used more and more for quick use while still maintaining excellent quality. The extra quality that the PD150 has is its ability to record in DVCAM which is a more durable and higher quality format than miniDV. ...
