Advantages: Small, stylish, wall moutable Disadvantages: Single region, no dolby digital 5.1 decoder
...To be honest, I bought this DVD player on impulse purely because of it's look. It's small (10 by 2.3 by 7 inches), silver and can be wall mounted or stood vertically or horizontally. It has a slot-load drive and all connectors are conceled underneath the player. It supports CD-Audio, CD-R, CD-RW, and DVD formats. But as is the case with many Sony products, there are better DVD players out there for a better price. Here there is no dolby digital 5.1 support, no progressive scan and no multi region. The on screen dislay assumes you recognise it's strange symbols when infact the first time you saw them was in the manual.
If you need a DVD player that won't take up much space, looks the part and you're not too bothered about sound and sharpness, this is for you....

...The audio/video enthusiast of the millennium is faced with an interesting future. New formats developed for the customer's pleasure (and, hopefully, the advancement of the science) are coming to the market place thick and fast, so much so, that the average audiophile may be daunted rather than enthused. The Sony and Philips Corporations are the main players in these format initiatives. Sony lost an early format war with their Beta video system to JVC's inferior VHS system, but gained huge support through the introduction (with Philips) of the Compact Disc. This CD revolution was marketed with such words as the infamous "Perfect Sound Forever". Many audiophiles, excited by this new medium, fell prey to the marketing department, dove in with both feet (me included), and dumped their Duals and Regas as fast as they could say "warped vinyl...

Advantages: 30hr battery life, 13000 tracks and 20gigs hard drive Disadvantages: tracks must be converted to atrac3plus, not that easy to navigate
...life. Long trips abroad, listen to it every second your away from that plug socket. Its one thing the Ipod lacks battery life and Sony beat them with all there products they bring out. And recharge times are pretty good as well 4 hours for this product but for other Sony mp3 players they only need 3 minute charges equalling 3 hours of battery life with a total life of 50hours. This docking station also of course is the way it docks with the pc to get music onto it which is another annoying thing because unlike the Ipod which recharges from the Pc, however the Sony does not and instead has 2 wires coming out of this docking station, one going to a source of power and another to the Pc. Just too many wires.
