The Sony DVP-NS300 is Sony's budget machine coming in at around £150.00 and is a great all rounder, I looked at several models in this price range before opting to go with the Sony and it's been a great choice.
The NS300 is a simple yet stylish looking unit in silver which feels solidly constructed, the drawer mechanism is smooth & quiet and the buttons are well laid out. This unit offers Scart, S-Video, digital Coaxial, analogue stereo and composite video connectivity. The NS300 was incredibly easy to install and set-up, using the quick set-up option it was up and running perfectly within 15 minutes with no hassle. The smooth playback offers great picture quality which is crisp and clear through a scart lead and the sound is handled well giving a punchy feel with several sound options to suit your tatse, including Sony's "Virtual surround system" which creates the effect of having surround sound without having all the speakers.
The remote control is a slimline no-nonsense control in black which does everything you'd want it to and is comfortable and easy to use.
This is an easy to use machine and has all the basic features you'd want from a player. This is defintely a budget player with far from budget performance which I'd recommend to any first time buyer.
I spotted a similar model in xtra-vision...I think it was the 305 or 350, but its a very nice looking machine and was on sale for £149. I nearly bought....very very nearly! Ahh.. temptation and I don't even need it.
