The Sony 'PICOT' as it's is called is a small stylish DVD player. It is very small in size as you can see from the picture which allows you to pick it up and plug it into any TV in the house or somebody elses.
It's silver in colour and for those who like nokia phones you can change the front facia insert. ( 3 supplied and you can D/L from the net)
The unit can play back DVD, CD, VCD, SVCD and MP3 (Menu scroll function on telly). It supports disks DVD-R, DVD-RW DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD-R, CDRW, CDA and DVD. It also supports NTSC disks although it's not multi region player (unless you use a hack code off the internet)
It connects to your TV via 3 phono plugs (supplied), S-Video and Scart oh and optical out aswell.
It produces a very good quality picture and excellent colours with my televisions. The sound is very clear and of high quality too. the unit supports DTS, Pro logic and Dolby Digital 5.1
The remote supplied is basic but does everything you would want it to. Instructions i could not comment as i didn't read them.
Ok things that let it down. The player is made to be portable. it's not that portable as you need a TV. However it is great for moving from room to room. Sony have saved money by using the clunky toilet lid disc opening rather than a silky smooth drawer and there is no LCD screen which is a bit of a problem when playing a CD. The design does not allow you to place it TV cabinets very easily either.
I bought this player as a second DVD player for the household and this little baby cost. a staggering £39.99 from Amazon. RRP is 109.99 i belive.
It's a excellent litlle player that will play all your discs whatever they may be and you have the ability to pick it up and move it. A great second DVD player and offering better parts and quality than others costing £40. If you want something more permant say for your front room spend a little more money.

sounds like you got a bargain, it's amazing how cheap DVD players are now, I just got one for £30 from Amazon, crazy, VCRs cost more than that! Great review, Emma :)
