I bought this DVD Player about 2 years ago now for £99 from a high street shop which I thought was a total bargain seeing as it is a Sony. I have never had any problems with it at all and find it plays most formats of DVD. It also plays mp3s, DVD - RW / -R/ +RW and + R discs.
QUALITY - Visual quality is fantastic, playing all DVDs in really sharp colour, it doesn't seem to stop halfway through a disc for a second like other DVD players do. The sound quality is pretty good with the capability of Dolby Surround which is a bonus for most people as a lot of people now have surround sound systems. You can also connect it to a Sony stack which would be like your hi-fi or something if you don't have a Sony hi-fi. It is a scart unit also which is good because you do not have to tune it in or anything. (Make sure your TV or other appliance has an AV scart socket, most modern equipment does so you shouldn't have to worry) There is no set up needed, just plug in and your away, the remote even comes with Sony batteries... you cant ask for much more than that! Set up instructions are not really needed unless you are setting up a surround sound system with it... instructions are easy to follow nevertheless.
DESIGN - I think it looks really good, plus it is very thin which means you can fit it into smaller spaces without having to deal with a huge DVD player with all the wires in the world. That's another thing, there's not a million wires to be worrying about. It looks modern and I think it comes in silver or black so take your pick.
FEATURES - it does have a range, like different cinema types, sound quality, picture sizes, subtitle tabs etc so its still pretty up to date.
OVERALL - absolutely second to none DVD player in my opinion. I haven't had a DVD player that is as easy to use as this. The only disadvantage for me is that it only plays a certain type of PAL DVD format in black an white which isn't that bad I guess but if you are into extreme sports, expect to watch your skate and bmx DVDs in black and white, everything else is ok though like the music etc so its not too much to worry about.
I hope this has helped you gain a better understanding of how decent this DVD player actually is.
