Advantages easy to operate, great menu

Disadvantages no blu-ray

Sony DVP-NS52

Sony is a world known company that finds its origin in 1946. The company was founded by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita. Sony is engaged in consumer electronics, movies, music, television and financial services. Today the company has more than 158,500 employees and has a turnover of more than 53 billion pounds.

The exterior of this DVD player is silver in color. I think modern but it still has quite a chic look. The player also has a sleek shape. I think the device has a design that will fit in most homes. What I find useful is that the most important functions can be controlled with the buttons on the remote and on the player itself. The silver buttons are nicely incorporated into the design of the device and they are easy to operate. On the front side is a mirror surface visible that is divided into two parts. Left is the tray for the disc and on the right is the information display. The light colored letters and numbers are easy to read.

The remote weighs surprisingly little. The rubber buttons are clearly and classified in terms of location and color, making the remote easy to use. The buttons work perfectly and are very solid. The batteries will really last very long. Before I first had to change batteries, we were already a few years later. This is thus very economical to use.

Connecting this DVD player is not that difficult. Everything is quite self-explanatory. On the back of the player are all connections such as digital out, line out (audio), line out (video), rgb line (for a scart cable), s video out, component video out and digital out (optical ).

An advantage of this device is that he really can play a lot of different formats. Namely, DVD Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD + R, Video CD, Music CD, CD-RW and CD-R. What I find useful is that the player can play DivX video files. It can also play CDs with a KODAK Picture CD format viewing. Although I've never used it.

What I find very important is the onscreen menu of the DVD. Of course it all clearly, logically arranged and easy to navigate. Fortunately, this Sony DVD player has a very clear menu with clear icons to allow you to quickly and easily find and set.

For each function there is a button on the remote. For sound settings, subtitles, language or example image settings, you do not have to go to the main menu. What I find really an unnecessary feature is the ability to zoom in on your image. You can zoom up to 4x and then you can use the arrow keys to navigate the picture. So far I have never used this feature and cannot think of when I would use it.

The manual is very clear and easy. Everything is easy to understand. There are many drawings and illustrations to facilitate the explanation. Everything is clearly explained step by step.

I am very pleased with this DVD. It is quite a luxurious DVD player with many built in functions and a clear and concise on-screen menu. Even if the player is already a couple of years old, he still works perfectly. What I also find an advantage to this player is that he plays almost everything in terms of file formats. Since it’s a bit of an old player it doesn’t have the Blu-ray technology. But when you looking for a fairly cheap DVD player (or perhaps as a second player for the bedroom), then this DVD player from Sony, is highly recommended!
