Originally, I was going too stick too my budget and get a SONY 325 or 525
However the more I looked into it the more I saw the advantages of spending a little more money and protecting myself against the future by getting the top of the range model that offers not only DD 5.1 sound but also DTS aswell as two scart outputs.

On making my decision on what DVD player too buy too replace my old Philips 710 player, I went too many test centres and read many reviews. The hardest decision was the Pinoneer or the SONY 735.

I made sure when I bought it I got it already multigregion. Richer Sounds sold me it for £450 in january, with a 5yr guarantee, so i was very pleased.
I highly recomend this one, and don't let the single laser put you off as I have yet too notice the difference between it and a dual laser machine.
Sony DVP S735D DVD Player
This has got to be the best DVD Player in the market today.
It has a full aluminium casing and very pleasing to the eye and as my friends say “sexy”
I used to have an old Panasonic Compact model and just purchased this one last week at PDS440.00.
I thought I’d wait about a week before I gave my opinion on it.
I know the price might be a bit steep but this is the best DVD Player around and if you’re ... ...this is enhanced with what Sony call “Smooth Scan”
The sound is out of this world especially if you’ve got a got a television with good sound capabilities, otherwise link it up through your Hi-Fi system to really enjoy the full benefits of the sound quality.
Now I know the true meaning of “Home Theatre”.

I bought this dvd player a while ago but it still works the same every time! Plays mostly all types of DVDs and VCDs which is useful! The remote control is quite fiddley, as the buttons are close together people may find it difficult. It's value for money is very high indeed, DTS out-put and picture enhancing makes the images beutiful. Sound enhancement for your TV speakers are good, but nothing beats the real home cinema speaker systems!
On screen ... ...to set up audio and picture preferences.
Try connecting this to a home cinema speaker system, as this dvd player will optimise sound preferences to suit the standards of your 5.1speaker system. .I connect a standard Goodmans 5.1 surrond sound system to it and it works just fine.
As expected from Sony, a easy to understand manual is included

...of the complicated controls.
This Sony has a lot going for it; the controls on the unit are neat and clear, the remote fits in the hand as though it had grown from it and I had it going through its paces within minutes of connecting it up.
That the picture quality was excellent goes without saying since it IS Sony after all; I had a problem initially with Region1/NTSC discs running as black and white, but switching to SCART RGB from the quick menu ... ...someone else, I tried it with R2 and R1 DVDs, an NTSC VCD, some MP3s off a CD (fantastic on screen track menu control if you want it) and a Kodak picture disc.
Superb! Excellent picture clarity and clear sound.
And at the same price asked by a well known retailer for a mere region 2 version, it is a superb bargain. Like I said I got it for a friends birthday present; but I may treat myself to a like present... My own DVD player is good, but not ...
