High reviews, high prices, high performance! Definatly worth every penny... the machine looks perfect but more importantly it performs that way too. the picture is super-sharp, there are also several modes to adjust the clarity - digital video enhancer. personnaly i rarely find any need to use this feature, it creates a sharper edge which can look out of place with recent releases. however it comes into its own with older remastered films. there are a multitude of other functions on the player to please gadget-philes like myself.
a bookmark function allows you to jump to a scene (upto 200 can be saved), screenshots can be taken, discs given a title - the list is almost endless. amazingly every function actually seems useful once you've mastered them.
the sound is of excellent quality and the machine has a host of connections to use the built in decoders. its one of the few uk machine to include component outputs along with the wealth of sockets at the back.
the 735 is so good it forced me to upgrade my entire setup!. i had to change from a 4:3 set to 16:9 and decided to get a dolby digital kit to complete the experience. i now feel like the player is being used to its full potential - a player of this quality definitely needs to be complemented with other good components.
the remote is an important thing to me when buying tvs,dvds etc. i want the remote to look and feel good, i truely hate some remotes - too many buttons can be bad.
the 735 remote is great, a wide remote which feels solid. it has good functionality;
- glow in the dark buttons for the major functions.
- a proper jog dial (with a groovy lit up button!)
- the ability to control an av amp and tv.
- plus numerous other sony functions.
the remote doesn't look, or more importantly feel, over-crowded.

In summary the 735 is a remarkable machine, its one of the more costly players but worth every penny. If your someone who wants to buy SONY then get this player. Its one of the few players they make that lives up to their name.
