I actually bought this because it was on special offer, and not really because I liked the look of it very much - to be honest, the partly see-through off-white on the lid / grey round the sides / cream on the base is not really very attractive.
Looks aside, it does what it says on the tin fairly well - it plays CDs with no problems and the shockproof function is very effective. Another handy feature is the battery monitor which shows you how much battery you have left. (It takes two standard AA batteries which are easy to put in.) Battery life is much better than in other models I have had, and you can save it by turning off the shockproof function for when you don't need it (for example, it plays without skipping if you're just walking along the road with it in a pocket). Volume also goes up to a good level.
However, the earphones provided with it are truly appalling - buy another set or use any you have hanging around (it's a standard connection). Anything is better than these ones. When I first used them I thought my CD had a fault - really tinny sound and cheap plastic material which doesn't fit your ears at all.
It has the standard features - a couple of modes, hold button, automatic volume limiting system and so on. One thing you might want is a 'repeat all' function, which, if it does exist, I can't find - the modes just seem to be shuffle and repeat the track you're on. I'm not too bothered about this, but it's something to bear in mind if you would normally use it.
If you just want a basic CD player, have got your own set of earphones, and aren't concerned with aesthetics, then this is perfect. Otherwise, get something else.
