While staying at a friends for a few weeks I needed a a way to listen to my favorite compact discs without alienating my friends.
I purchased my portable CD player at a local store and was immediately pleased with my purchase. After looking for a few hours at the different models of players I decided the Sony D-EJ621 Personal CD Player was best suited for my needs.
The Sony D-EJ621 Personal CD Player was $99.99 USD and came with a limited time offer of a free travel case with proof of purchase.
Features:
*Hand Strap (for carrying)- which may be cumbersome since the player itself is rather heavy.
*AC Power Adapter-for use without the need of batteries.
*G-Protection-this function keeps your portable CD player from skipping. This feature gives you higher shock protection than ones without this function.
*Bass Boosted Sound
*Car and Home Stereo Compatible
*Rechargeable Battery Compatible
*Headphones
Use:
First you must supply power to your Sony D-EJ621 Personal CD Player. this may be done by connecting the AC Adapter or placing batteries in the unit. Rechargeable or dry batteries may be used.
The front of the CD player has an OPEN switch, that slide to the right to open. Once opened insert your favorite CD. Close the lid.
The functions are on the top of the CD player, each function is labeled as a symbol. Refer to your Sony D-EJ621 Personal CD Player for the correct ways to use these functions as there are 8 various functions.
To remove our CD from the player press the pivot in the center of the tray and remove your CD.
Playing Options:
These buttons are on the top of the CD player.
You can play a track repeatedly by pressing the repeat/enter button.
You can listen to a single track by pressing PLAY MODE until the # 1 appears over the track number on the display.
You can also play tracks randomly by pressing PLAY MODE until SHUF appears in the display window.
You can program tracks in the order if which you want by pressing PLAY MODE until PRG appears. Select your favorite track then REPEAT/ENTER to chose the selected track. Repeat these steps until all tracks are chosen. You may select up to 64 different tracks. Any more than 64 tracks will be erased and you will have to repeat the process again.
Stylish & ?!?
The initial glance at this CD player is pleasant. Although it is portable it is a bit bulky and slightly heavy. You will definitely need a carrying case specifically made for this type of player.
The colors range, but mine is a dark blue with black accents. The display screen is aqua so tracks and play modes are easily read. The MAIN play buttons are black and very hard to find in low lighting, I suggest familiarizing yourself with these functions.
The three buttons on the face that are used for different play modes are highlighted in light blue so they are very easy to find.
The headphones are your standard adjustable headphones, which I replaced (at a very low price) with a pair of Sony ear phones (which are more compact and are easier to keep on).
Maintenance:
The casing can be cleaned using a slightly moistened cloth either with or without a mild soapy solution. DO NOT use alcohol, benzine, or thinner as it may damage the CD players surface.
Cleaning the laser inside the player requires a store bought cleaner that is specifically made for cleaning compact disc players. These can be found at any electronics store. Do not attempt to clean the laser yourself, you may damage it.
Sound Quality:
The Sony D-EJ621 Personal CD Player delivers excellent sound quality. The Bass booster is a great addition to this player. I like extra bass on some compact discs and since this is a standard feature it tends to make some CDs sound even better than their studio recorded versions.
The treble is adequate for this player. The CDs sound is as true when played on this player as they are when being played on my home stereo system, nix the equalizer. I am satisfied with the sound quality as a whole. Any type of music sounds great on the Sony D-EJ621 Personal CD Player.
The manufacturer recommends adjusting the volume if the sound is distorted when using the BASS Booster.
The G-Protection function is wonderful. I have used this portable CD player while cooking, doing research, working out etc. I cant count how many times this player has been dropped or juggled around. Not even ONCE has this player missed a beat. Which is a lot more than I can say for my Sony Compact Disc player for my car which also has anti-skip protection.
I have had complaints from others who have borrowed my player, their chief complaint on some CDs this does indeed skip. As with my car stereo I think a lot of it depends on the compact disc itself.
Batteries?
To use batteries or not to use batteries?
The Sony D-EJ621 Personal CD Player can be used with the power adapter, regular dry batteries or rechargeable batteries. Two AA batteries are required for use.
If you use rechargeable batteries, there are two types that can be used with this player:
NC-WMAA NH-WM2AA
This system allows you to CHARGE the batteries once installed. With little instruction, you can save yourself and the environment lots of money and waste.
The display will show if your rechargeable batteries need recharging.
Dry batteries (depending on brand) get about 40 hours of use from this unit.
Additional Accessories:
These other products can be purchased to use with your Sony D-EJ621 Personal CD Player.

Advantages: Looked Good Disadvantages: Broke Down so unrealiable
Well I dont know if it was just that i had a one off one. But the one I had was rubbish. It took 2 weeks before it started to go wrong. Very frustrating. It kept skipping to start with and i thought it was the cd. Then the buttons stopped working and every now and again the screen went blank. The Batterys didnt seem to last long niether. Not very good at all.
Im sorry if you have one which works but mine didnt and it was very anoying. I bought it ... ...I had to take it back to the shops. The didnt have another one in so I had to get a different one.
The sound quality was good when it worked and it was easy to use. The instructions were easy enough to understand.
Apart from that I guess it looked ok. But whats the use with a Cd player when you cant use it. ...

Advantages: Very small, light and slim. Great G-Protection!! Disadvantages: No AC Adaptor or Batteries supplied!!
I bought this Personal CD Player because of good reviews elsewhere.
What the other reviews failed to mention was that this CD Player does not come with an AC adaptor or batteries. So if you were thinking of buying this CD player you must be prepared to pay an extra £ 25 for an AC Adaptor if you want to recharge your batteries.
The CD player itself is very good; it is very slim, light and compact. It has excellent G-Protection so you can go jogging ... ...player is also superior in terms of battery power; it has a maximum of 50 hours battery life.
This is has all the usual CD-R/RW COMPATIBILITY, PGM, AVLS and a LINE OUT for speakers. You can also bookmark your favourite tracks, you can programme up to 64 tracks.
If you are willing to pay the extra money for an AC adaptor (and batteries), this is a very good CD Player and I recommend it.
Update : I just bought rechargeable batteries for £6.99 and ...
