Advantages: Great quality all around. Disadvantages: Poor software
I bought one of these a long time ago, just before the iPod craze went off and to be honest for it's time it was fantastic.
Of course it is a little bulky taking CD's and all, but not too much so. It is barely bigger than a CD in fact and was ideal for my needs at school. I used to have the CD part in my bag, then the remote trailed out of the zip. The remote is the coolest feature of this product as it has a small screen on it so you can read your albums and songs.
The major problem with it was the software, when you were creating an ATRAC CD it just took forever, once it was made it was perfect however. After my 3rd Gen iPod broke, and my newer Sony HDD system is on the blink this little bad boy is still going strong! Pity they're being phased out :(
Because it takes ATRAC CD you can fit stacks on CD's onto one CD (the amount depends ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: helpful Review of Sony D-NE 1
Advantages: Equaliser, CD/RW, MP3 playback, CD Text support. Disadvantages: 40-18000 Hz frequency range, won't save any settings except EQ when battery replaced.
The SonyD-NE500 would've been a truly good player if it wasn't for Sony's conservatism and somewhat careless treatment of features.
The user interface is decent, it has the typical Sony joystick/scroll wheel that are common for professional-line Sony equipment. The player came with a remote and a simple belt-mounted plastic clamp for the player (it is not, however, a case, as the product description states). Both the remote and the player itself have "hold" buttons. The user interface is comfortable, the playing title as presented by the LCD display is scrollable, and the LCD can display a good amount of information.
An AC/DC adapter is a separate buy.
The player reads ID3V1 and ID3V2 tags (though it gets confused badly by UTF-8, so no international character support beyond the basic European Latinic variations) and CD ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Sony D-NE500
Advantages: Atrac capability, battery life Disadvantages: poor software and value for money
I got my D-NE715 about a year ago and since then it has served me ok but is nothing special. There are a few nagging issues I shall address later.
Sound
Lets face it it?s a Sony, the sound quality is very good, with Mega Base to get you jumping and AVLS (Automatic Volume Limiter System) which protects your lugs. Another feature is the G-shock, I know most players now have a very good anti skip system but the one on this player is great, I have never had it skip on me, even when I take is snowboarding! The earphones that come with the player are fairly standard Sony ones and unfortunately my ears seem to be a funny shape, which just doesn?t agree with them, so I had to get new ones. I?m sure they work for most people though
