I found that it wasn't as bad as I was first expecting, the only problem was, my mum didn't know how to use it properly! I've found that there are several neat things you can do with it.

Well that’s one of the two things that most people buy a mobile phone for. So I was hoping that that would work at least. Fortunately, it did, and there are extra bits and bobs you can do whilst you're on a call, you can silence the line so the other person can't hear what you're saying, you can make them "hold the line" and so on and so forth. However the quite embarrassing disadvantage with this particular phone is that when you put it to your ear in the street, you might get some sniggers and giggles as people walk past. You might as well have a brick to your ear. It is quite literally that big and can be quite discomforting when you are trying to have a civilised conversation with someone. I know this is a very stereotypical view on phones, but nowadays, like most stereotypes, its true, big phones are not cool. As far as phoning is concerned though, no problem in that department.
………..Texting………..
SMS has become a worldwide way of communication and is fast, reliable and fairly cheap. With the press of a few buttons you can type a message to a person in Australia from the comfort of your own armchair. The A2618s has this same function, as does every mobile phone today. Once you eventually get the message typed and are about to send it there isn’t any worry at all, it’s only when you’re typing the message that difficulties can occur. It is so slow at processing the data, for example if I typed “Hey, how are you?” into a message you’d get to the “how” part and it wouldn’t have typed “Hey” yet. Also the layout of different symbols is quite badly done as I was used to a Nokia 3310 and all the symbols are the wrong way round (such as @, : , etc.) If you do text with this phone have patience with it.
………..Extras……………
There is no end of extras to this phone, which is the only reason that I don’t hate this phone. These are all the different functions it can do: Address Book, text messages, call info, sounds and alerts (including ring tones, etc.), profiles, language tools, time and date, hands free, locks, alarm clock, timer, stopwatch, calculator, WAP services, a choice of three games Tetris, Erix and E-Maze and a series of shortcuts. There are a lot of features on this phone that do make life easier sometimes.
……………Battery……………
The battery lasts quite a long time, 2 weeks approx., if you turn it off at night. However if you leave it on 24 hours a day it’ll probably last about 3 days max. It does take quite a long time to recharge also so be patient.
It costs approximately £50 but I’m not sure whether or not it comes with a SIM card but I think it does. I’ll get back to you on that.
I think that’s covered most of it but as with all my opinions, feel free to tell me if I have missed anything or if there is anything you wish to know about it.

Out of the 4 mobile phones I've had, this is by far the best one. I had a Motorola m3788e on the Orange OVP tariff and it was faultless until that is, I wasn't earning because I could not afford the bill and not knowing how much it was did not help. The handset was fine if all you wanted a phone that get from A to B but it was lacking in features for me and wasn't brilliantly put together, although the service from Orange was superb. The other 2 ... ...plan. The handsets were decent but the coverage was far from impressive and it was too expensive for me.
I decided to go to pre-pay because I felt I could control my costs better, so it was time for me to shop around for a cheap yet nice handset on JustTalk within a price range of up to £50, and when I saw the A2618 for £40, I decided this was the phone for me. In Ericsson A-2618s there is a set of functions, necessary for today, switching on WAP, besides there is a possibility adding to the phone various equipment, beginning from banal Handsfree and finishing a miniature editing pad SMS. From this set I were interested, however, only a package Mobile Office DI28, which supplements A-2618s by a functional of infrared port and modem.
The phone has rather solid dimensions and weight. The buttons of management ... ...of scrolling are too on a sideboard of the telephone. However their disposition in the top does not allow using them with comfort.
The design strength of a device has called double feelings. On the one side, it is strong (almost monolithic) device, and with other there is some shaky antenna calls fears for quality of communication. The Ericsson A2618s was my first mobile and proved to be an excellent buy.
Although not a small phone by todays standards, it has a sleek appearence which is inviting to the eye and is really comfortable to hold. The phone, for it's size, is very light, weighing less that the Nokia 3310 which is quite a bit smaller.
As the funcions, it has a decent graphical interface which is extremely easy and logical to navigate. Apart from the regular funcions ... ...3 games, WAP, a calculator, a shortcuts menu, profiles (useful for changing settings quickly) and some other funcions.
On the downside, having a graphical menu saps the memory and sometimes is pauses for a moment when passing between screens. Apart from this, it is an excellen all round, workmanlike phone at a great price! ...

When I first got the phone I was very impressed. It had an excellent screen, the ability to compose your own ringtones and a game similar to Tetris on it - very impressive.
Unfortunately, it soon became disappointing. When I used it during a rainy day (which we get a lot of in England), the phone stopped working and made a 'beeping' noise, before turning itself off. I then turned the phone back on without any trouble. I shrugged it off and then ... ...a minute or so, the phone started to make a very loud, irritating noise and it would not switch off so I took out the battery to stop it making the noise. After that, the phone would not switch back on again.
I sent the phone off to Ericsson for a repair under warranty. They then sent the phone back after about a week saying that the phone had major water damage in the electronics and that it was not economically repairable. They said that the phone ...

This was the first mobile i ever had and i would say it is probably still the best. I say that not for its looks or features of which it has little of either, but its build quality and durability.
Of all the phones i have owned (EricssonA2618s, Nokia 3310 and sony CMD-C1) my Motorola "brick" has outlasted all and has been relied on again and again when my others have been sent back to the makers for repairs, of which this one has had none. It has also had the best reception of any other phone i have had and has been able to make phone calls clearly in areas my other phones have not.
As a starters first time mobile i would recommend this phone, but it quickly loses appeal against newer phones on the market. As with all Motorola's this one has excellent durability and has survived three years of mountain biking, everyday use ...
