POOR QUALITY

Advantages: Cheap or free with most packages, with good reception
Disadvantages: Aeriels break, causing loss of signal

The Ericcson GA628, has been around now for a couple of years and it shows !!
I owned one on the Vodaphone network and had if for just one year until my contract run out. The phone in it's self served a purpose, and yes worked well with Vodaphone, But...in the year I had it, I had to go away fro repairs to the circuit board and I had to replace the frigile aerial 3 times. Due to the way the aerial is fixed to the phone it easily bends and ...
...receiving SMS text messages, as you have to scroll through long words, unlike for example the ever popular Nokia 3210.
The outercase of the phone also looks and feels poorly manufactured, no wonder they started giving it away as part of package deals almost straight after it came onto the market.

My advice is stay clear, I have the new Nokia 3210 and find it a much better quality product,

Avoid like the Plague

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: One line display, poor reception, bad aerial design

The GA628 was my first mobile phone and whilst it was very popular at the time, in today's market it does not have a place. The "stubby" aerial is a nuisance and makes placing in a pocket difficult. I have also found that the aerial is fairly easy to break and the replacement is costly. The one line display is very annoying, especially when writing/reading text messages. I have also found that the reception on this phone is very bad. All in all avoid ...

Not as big as it looks, but still rubbish

Advantages: Smallish, reliable, dropable(the battery comes off, but it still works)
Disadvantages: Small display, annoying ring vol adjust.

This handset isn't as big as it looks, the main part of the phone is slightly smaller than a Nokia 5110, and the aerial a bit longer, but it is the styling (square) that makes it look bigger. The display is a one-line, 12 character jobbie, and when you miss a call the whole number won't fit in. Another thing that narks me is the ring volume adjustment, when you put the volume up it rings at the volume you set, which can be embarassing. It has ...

Worst phone ever

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Battery life, sound quality, size, weight, shall I go on?

written on 13.06.01 by andycharger View comments I was the proud owner of a Nokia 3210 until 6 weeks ago when I had my phone stolen. Gone was the lovely shiny phone and its SIM card. Being a VODAPHONE customer, I thought it would be easy to get back on the air. I was wrong. Firstly I ordered a new SIM. It turned up in a couple of days. I then tried to find an old phone to use it with. I tried an actual Vodaphone phone that was being used as a pay ...
...sim. I tried my mates old Nokia 7110 that he used on the Orange Network. Still no joy. I then swapped the Vodaphone Pay as you go Phone with my fiance and got her Ericsson GA628 which was compatible! Hooray. Thats where my celebration finished. While the phone works, it is crap. The stand by time on it is about 36 hourse without a call. Longer than that and it dies. that is very poor compared to modern phones but I suppose it is quite old now. The ...

Cheap and chearfull

Advantages: Cheap and chearful/long battery life for old phone
Disadvantages: Bulky, week arial and looks old

The ericsson GA628 was The first mobile I ever owned, and it will always hold some sentimental value in my heart. I brought this phone about two years ago when it had just been released, to most of the other mobiles about at the time, it was by far one of the best. The phone itself looks very dull in comparison to say the nokia 3210, but then again you get what you pay for. The biggest downfalls about the phone is that the arial is very week and ...
...time I have had it(which can get very costly.) Also the screen itself is very small which makes it very hard to read text messages, but bearable. If you are just looking for a cheap phone, to make and recieve calls, send the odd text message then this is a very good phone indeed, other than the arial the overal design of the phone is very strong. I have dropped it several times and never has it cracked or stopped responding due to this(thge battery ...
