Overview
I purchased this phone around 18 months ago, having become fed up with the poor battery life on my previous mobile device, which often died after 6 hours post overnight charge. At the time, I paid £70 (which included £20 worth of top-ups) and I also managed to get £10 trade-in for my old 'phone, charger and manual from a well-known mobile 'phone dealer.
The main criteria for a new 'phone was one that was stable, I.E. did not lock up completely on occasion, requiring the removal of the battery for 30 seconds in order to get it working again and one that did not need the national grid on IV every 6 hours!
I did some research on the web prior to purchase and found that at the time, this 'phone had far more happier users than many other 'phones in the same price range. This was the major deciding factor upon purchase.
Styling and Practicality
The screen is clear and crisp and to my mind the colour scheme and design place it somewhere between functional and attractive. Okay, maybe a clam-style moby is *more* "kweul", but I'm no longer a child and so don't really care too much.
I would have liked larger buttons and at first I found the "toggle" stick a little difficult to use, but after time I soon got used to both. However, as with most newer mobiles, if you require reading glasses or have started to loose the dexterity in your hands and fingers, you might find this 'phone somewhat challenging to use.
Features
It has a camera, you can record your own ring tones and it has also been graced with some "office like" features, such as a calculator, notepad and calendar. None of which I have used since the first week of ownership, but they might be of some use one day…
The alarm clock feature is useful if you're away and works even when the 'phone is powered off. The k300i's 'phonebook system is easy to use and entering a number into or recalling a number from it has never been a major drama.
The k300i has predictive texting (which I personally found annoying rather than useful) and it is at this point that I found frustrating to use. My older 'phones all had buttons that were probably 15% larger and the where the texting facility was somehow easier to use.
Try as I might, I just cannot get used to texting with this 'phone. Admittedly, I'm no text manic and perhaps this is where the source of the trouble lies - maybe I just don't use it enough to become a competent texpert on this 'phone.
You can also surf the web if you can endure the dismally slow speeds and massively high charges, but who knows - one day it might be a "life saver".
Conclusion
Overall, I'm very happy with my k300i. But it is used as a 'phone, not as a camera or text hound and this is where it might fall down for other users. If you want a solid mobile for making and receiving calls at a low-end price, then I don't think you would do much better
