For the price range, this phone really stands out from the crowd. Let's get the often horrible bit out of the way first.......THE PRICE!!
I picked this up from my Local O2 Store, price £49.99. Now because I traded in a phone that had been sat in a draw doing nothing for the last five years, I got £10 off! So, down to £39.99. Also, because I was an existing customer the guy in store put my number into his computer and told me I could have another £10 off!! Going well, VERY well!! Down to £29.99. There were three phones to choose from at this price, the other two (A motorola and a nokia!) Didn't have a camera at all. The K310i not only had a camera, but VIDEO as well!! Looking at other phones, maybe £10 more, they just had a camera and no video, so this one was looking good!
This, for me, is just a back up phone but out for a bargain, I still wanted as much for my money as possible! Just being greedy...but if you're after a simple phone I would STILL recommend it over others in the price range. Above all else, this phone has two main advantages over it's competitors, Brilliant Battery life, which is very typical of the Sony Ericssons, and easy menu system. It doesn't try to be too clever, and is very intuitive. In my opinion, taking over the Nokia's which are starting to rely too much on reputation!
The only grumble I have is the general "feel" of the handset; it does feel a bit like a toy, and not very robust. Very light, almost empty!! However, it is a relatively small handset, not too fiddly with a very usable joystick which is very easy to get the hang off. Also, when the phone is on and lit up, it does look very modern. The quality of the screen is good, very strong colours and not grainy or weak at all. Whilst not the most feature packed phone on the market, in terms of value for money, it really does come recommended. Bluetooth is missing, but infared is here; Not much memory (15mb) but you can play and store MP3s; great 3D java games, and the possibility of downloading more ( if you do a quick search on the World Wide Web you can find lots for free!!), and a few other quirky extra such as a picture editor and Dictaphone.
The design of the phone is also well thought out, a quick shortcut button for the camera, and another shortcut button that you can customise for all your favourite and most used features. All in all, a really good phone, that is fantastic value for money. You'd pay a lot more, even at the original price of £49.99, for exactly the same features. You certainly are not compromising quality.
Sony Ericsson have done well with the k310i, beats other budgets phones out right. Fantastic. Recommended as a simple, easy to use phone, or for those wanting a bit more from their handset but on a limited buget!! Please message me if you have any specific questions on this phone!!!
