I've had my k500i for just under a year now, I got it as a replacement for a broken seimens S55. I had read the stats for the k700i and bought the k500i by mistake, basically missing out on bluetooth. Other than the lack of bluetooth though it's a nice little phone, it has a reasonable camera and can send pictures and take videos (though you can't send the videos and it definitely won't allow video calls). It came with a load of pretty good games, but as I bought this second hand I can't promise that these are as standard.
The battery life is pretty impressive for this type of phone, I've seen it last 3 days without calls, I don't make many calls (I text most of the time thanks to a pre-pay O2 genie sim that gives me 300 free texts a month) so not sure about length of battery life when calling a lot. I do remember from experience in the past though that manufacturers stats for call time battery life are based on optimum signal and the battery life goes down in relation to lower signal availability so don't always go by the manufacturer's guidline battery life for calls. Basically if you live somewhere with low signal don't leave home for too long without the charger.
Apparently you can use it as an MP3 player but I never got the data link cable for the PC so I've never used this option, besides the memory is pretty small so I wouldn't immagine you would get many tracks on it anyway. It's infra red capable but this is a fairly outdated way of connecting devices and I've found a milimetre movement can be enough to sever the link, plus I'm yet to be able to access much more than file system and it doesn't seem to recognise images saved in windows format. To be honest I wouldn't be buying this phone if you are wanting something which will remain compatible with technology for the next 2 years. This said it does do the basics well with a few little extras like note reminders, the camera and picture messaging so it will last you at least a few years so long as you don't expect it too be cutting edge and link up with very many other devices.
Anyway, the k500i is a good phone if you just want a phone that texts and sends pictures and to make an odd call or two. Sometimes the joystick can get a bit unresponsive so I'd watch out for that. If you want to know anything more specific then send me a question and I'll fiddle about with the phone to find out for you. Hope this helps, cheers, John

Advantages: This phone has great quality pictures and quite a good video quality for its price Disadvantages: The joystick may take a while to get used to, and I have yet to find a way to transfer data from the phone to a computer
