Superb camera/music/video phone
Advantages: Photos, Music, Stylish Disadvantages: Keypad is small
The Sony Ericsson K550i is one of a number of new phones that Sony Ericsson have just recently released. The Sony Ericsson comes with a really nice 262k TFT colour screen which has a nice resolution which is great for viewing the photos you will take using this phone. The phone comes with some decent animated background wallpapers but you can download new ones if you don't like them. I'm sure you won't bother as the pre loaded wallpapers are fine. It is a Cyber-shot phone meaning that it is and an ideal mobile phone for taking pictures with. The Sony Ericsson K550i is an extremely stylish phone and it will look great wherever you take it. Weighing in at just 85 grams the phone is very light and it won't weigh you down or be a burden to carry round all day. The Mobile has a nice feel to it as it is solid, light and compact making it ideal to carry in your hand. The K550i is 14mm in depth making it slim, 102mm in height and 46mm in width making the phone fairly small. You can get the handset in two different colours, jet black and pearl white, each look equally attractive and I wouldn't want to say which one looked better.
The Sony Ericsson comes with a really nice 262k TFT colour screen which has a nice resolution which is great for viewing the photos you will take using this phone. As well as being able to use wallpapers as backgrounds you can use your own photos which you take with the camera which is great because the phone comes with an excellent 2 megapixel camera.
The camera on the phone is 2 megapixel and as a result you can take some really great shots with this little phone. The camera uses the latest Cyber-shot technology and as the camera has a lens cover the lens stays in really good condition and the lens cover prevents dust and muck getting on the lens making the pictures remain top quality. The phones camera comes complete with digital zoom, photo light, auto focus and a dedicated camera features menu making for one of the best phone cameras I have seen up to now. The digital zoom can go in up to 2.25 times allowing the photographer to take zoom in and out which makes for a clear and precise picture. You can send the images to a photo blog site to share the images with your friends and family and this is a great little feature.
As well as being able to take pictures with this phone you can also record video allowing you to record at any moment for an unlimited amount of time. Videos can be saved for later viewing or edited using the VideoDJ feature.
The Sony Ericsson K550i also has a built in media player which allows you to listen to music and watch videos on the phone in all the popular formats available. On the phone you also get a radio so you can listen to local and national stations which is handy if you get bored of listening to the same old tracks on your phone. The phone also comes with Track ID so when your listening to the radio on the phone you can find out the name of the song and artist which is an excellent little feature allowing you to instantly know what a song is called.
As well as all these features the handset comes with all the normal features such as, alarm clock, stopwatch, calculator, tasks and a phonebook and a few others making this handset a feature packed phone. Bluetooth is included allowing pictures music video and text to be sent to and from mobiles freely within a range of 10 metres. The phone comes with 64MB of onboard memory but this can be expanded up to 1GB with a memory stick.
The only thing that I think lets this phone down is the keypad. The buttons are very small and close together. Although they are alright for my hands someone with bigger hands may find it trickier to navigate around the phone. I would recommend messing around on a K550i in a shop to see whether the buttons feel comfy for you.
All in all this is a great little phone, it has a stunning camera with features that you have on proper digital cameras, it allows you to store music files and you are able to record videos. This is a great phone if you want to look stylish and cool. This phone will probably be popular with teenagers because of it's great looks but it is also a very usable phone with lots of features that you should consider if your looking for a new phone. The phone can be picked up on pay as you go unlocked for about £160 but if you buy it on a network you can expect to pay around £130 which is good value for money.

Another year, another phone. This time, fed up of buying I decided to go on contract, and after looking through the selection on the Virgin website decided on this little beauty which was free on my 12 month contract.

The first thing that attracted me to this phone was its cute little looks. Black casing with a large screen and tiny little silver buttons. The blue backlight caught my eye too. Its small compact size ... ...bulge when carrying it about in your pocket and it also means I can hide it well in work!
There are shortcut buttons around most of the phone, and by a press you can be listening to your favourite songs or being a budding photographer. The sliding lens cover at the back is a great idea to protect the camera and also doubles as a short cut to launch the camera.

...I used to own a Sony Ericsson a few years ago, but switched to a Samsung due to its sleek looks, but I am very happy to return, as the Sony is so much easier to use.
The first thing you notice about the phone when picking it up is its light weight and large screen, perfect for taking photo with the 2 megapixel camera. Mine came in black with silver buttons and looks great, albeit not as sleek at the some of the slide-down phones lke the Samsung ... ...be augmented by inserting a sony memory card. Though pricey, this is clever way of storing your music and images and allows you to free up the rest of your phone's memory.
Other extra features that impressed me were some of the fun auxiliery applications included. These include the Track ID software, that can identify music that is playing around you; the Photo DJ, Video DJ and Music DJ that let you play around and alter the music, image or video ...

I bought the phone as a replacement for my tired looking Nokia 6230i. The phone cost only £79.99 from Carphone Warehouse (that was with trade in and the free £10 credit). Anyway here are the main features:
Design
The design for this phone is very eyecatching, and makes it look alot more expensive than it really is. The phone is only 14.5mm thick so will go unoticable in jeans pockets, yet still have enough depth to fit well in oyur palm. Thin, ... ...these often frighten potential customers away (fearing for their fingers safety), they are really very comfortable and easy to use. On the back of the phone is an active lens cover (camera turns on when opened), this is a good feature as it protects the camera however I fear that in a years time it may be quite loose.

The phone features all the usual things found on phones today Messaging, MP3 Player, Radio, Games etc. Some other good ...

Advantages: Good looking, durable, good range of features, cheap Disadvantages: keys freeze sometimes(after 1 yr of usage probably through my own fault)
I have owned the K550i for a year now and it's still going strong. I have not had any major issues with it since purchase and the only downsides i can think of is that once in a while when texting some of my keys freeze up a bit but they do quickly unfreeze. This is not a major problem as it now only happens once every 2 or so weeks (by the way this only started recently). The user interface is easy to use and i have downloaded different themes from ... ...the phone i paid £50 for which i feel is good value for money since it performs most if not all the tasks that a higher end phone performs and now being ayear on i am sure it is cheaper. Overall i think the phone is reliable, quite good lookling but durable. ...

Review of Sony Ericsson K550i Cyber-shot
When you think Sony Ericsson and Phone, you just have a picture of an expensive walkman thing that's just hyped up. Not with the K550i! It is now quite cheap to pick up and to be honest, it's not much far behind newer phones.
The K550i is an upgrade to the incredibly popular K500i and it's just so much better! The camera isn't awesome at 2MP but ample, but that's only half the story. This phone takes some stunning pictures which when first viewed ... ...taken with only a 2mp camera. The video is equally impressive. In fact, both the camera and video are much better quality than many supposedly better and more expensive phones.
And then there's the music player which as expected is of top sound quality. 64MB internal memory isn't going to store more than 1 album at most but the compatibility for a Memory Stick Micro card up to 2gig is a reasonable solution. As per usual, it has TrackID where you ...
