I have had this phone since early 2005 and let me say, it has been great - it was an upgrade from my old Phillips Savvy and beign easy to carry and use, I loved it. At college we would go round town trying to bluetooth pictures to people or connect to the bluetooth photobooth at Afga or something similar.
The phone has a camera for taking pictures and vieos, it can record sound, play Java games, email, send picture messages, connect via Infrared and bluetooth or by USB data cable to your PC (not supplied). It can also play songs, take pictures SILENTLY, connect to the internet and probably do a few more things that I have never tried.
The phone is ageing, sadly, and as such I really want a new one. The camera's picture quality is too low compared to say even the k750i (which wasnt much more at the time), it has no standard USB or earphone port (typical Sony) and most of all, the memory is far too low (64mb!) to really store much. The 3gp video clips it takes are a lower framerate and quality than some of my friend's phones, but this isn't too big a deal since it can play back videos from other people with no problems.
I use this phone a lot now, still. For example, it is an international phone (hence the "i") and I have been able to use this in Belgium, France, Holland, Iceland, North America, Uruguay and Argentina. My best friend has a simpler, yet newer, phone than I do and so I use infrared to transfer pictures and stuff with him.
The only problems I can really say I have had are sometimes the SIM card appears to be dislodged, as it doesn't read it on startup. The power adaptor (UK one, the US and EU ones are fine for me at the mo) takes a while to plug in properly and the flap that seals the power/cable connections is too "big" and wont close properly (probably expanded by heat - design flaw I reckon). The paintwork is chipping in places, it has taken a lot of abuse from being dropped and thrown (don't ask) and there is a bit of dust under the screen. But for 3 years of use and abuse, this phone has don't really well and the battery life is still reasonable, only needing one or two charges a week or so.
If you just want a phone that does the basics and you can get one of these cheap, you won't regret it - it lasts a long time. You can use another carrier's SIM card in other countries with this, take pictures, email etc. Modern phones are often capable of having more memory put in but I think essentially they can just take better pictures. The better Sony Ericssons now have touch screens but to be honest, I don't really care. This is a great phone and I would recommend it to anyone who just wants a cheap phone regardless of how many years it has been on the market for.
Advantages: Excellent value, excellent colour screen, good battery life, attractive design. Disadvantages: VGA resolution camera, no expandable memory, poorly built joystick
I bought the Sony Errisson K700i for £89.99 ($154) in the UK. In the store, the K700i had the most features for its price.
In terms of design, the K700i has a nice candybar design. From the reverse, the phone looks a camera, and from the front a phone. The K700i is averagely thin, with buttons on the sides (a volume rocker, camera button, and online key etc.). At the base is a charger and headset jack (the K700i comes supplied with a wired headset ... ...used as a headset during calls). At the top is a dedicated power button.
The K700i performs all the usual calling, texting, and Internet services well, although some will miss no dedicated talk and end keys. The joystick is nice, but over time it will begin to be less responsive. The keypad is slightly cramped, but it is quite tactile and great for texting. However it feels quite poorly built.
In terms of features, there is a media player (which ...

Advantages: Good looking Disadvantages: Heavy, stiff control stick etc.
...added bonus of being a sony ericsson. During the year I owned this phone I had a number of problems with it including problems with the headphones and battery. The headphone connector after a period of not too intense use became worn and loose as did the battery at the back of the phone.
I found the handset itself to be extremley heavy, a lot heavier than most modern phones are expected to be nowadays and the memory was pretty shocking; the memory ... ...this phone, I would not recommend it to be used as a phone combine mp3 player.
On top of all that the control stick which is a main feature sony ericsson uses to sell most of it's phones became stiff and hard to operate after a period of months. ...

Advantages: Everything except the one disadvantage Disadvantages: no expandable memory
I'm the kind of guy who test things to destruction, and with this phone i had to do a whole lot of 'testing'. I always buy Ericsson's for their sheer toughness, and ease of use. This phone was no exception. I had this phone for about 2 years, and for about 23 months of that i threw my phone...constantly...on hard surfaces. A couple of scratches here and there, but no damage whatsoever to the phone's functionality. Features wise, it's got almost everything ... ...of those people who use your phone for everything between checking your facebook to making the coffee. The 2 only downsides are the slightly low quality-ness of the camera, and the lack of expandable memory. Finally the last 'test' of the old, but still going K700i was done on a golf course, with a 9 iron. You get the picture? 40 yards i'd say, not a very aerodynamic peice of kit. But Wait! The phone was still alive! Fully functioning, with a slightly ...

Quick review of Sony Ericsson K700i
A really good phone, i bought this when it was first on the market at top price and i still have it now, i have not needed to replace any battery or screen or buttons.
The Joystick in the middle sometimes sticks but that is a small price to pay. It has internet access and bluetooth and infrared, and excellent camera and also comes with 3 games included.
Easy to text, send picture messages and browse the mobile internet.
I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for perhaps an older or cheaper version of the new sony ericsson k750i or k800i. ...

Quick review of Sony Ericsson K700i
I remember that I bought the Sony Ericsson k700i for 100$ from a shop in Romania. It is extremly useful when you must to make a call from countryside where the signal isn't so powerful. I have had it for about 2-3 months and it is not slow. K700i works really well and has all the basics. The camera may not be brilliant but you don't buy a phone for the camera. Also the buttons are just the right size not just for lady fingers. The size/weight is nice, though some might consider it *too* light. The RF and audio quality seemed OK in *limited* testing.
This phone is one of the best i have had. ...

Advantages: MP3 player, video/camera, FM radio, light, stylish, games, bluetooth Disadvantages: difficult games, buttons quite close together
I am 15 and have one phone previous to this one. Before I got the SonyEricssonK700iI had a Nokia which was reliable but didn't have the features I wanted. I started looking for a new phone in October 2005, I was looking for a phone which had a MP3 player and camera. I came across the K700i on the internet priced at £110. I was impressed with the number of features - mp3 player, fm radio, bluetooth and both video and normal camera to name but a few.
Overall I would recommend this phone to people who find it easier to pick up new things and technology and who enjoy more entertainment features. This phone is great and is good value for money. It should last the test of time well.
The positives and negatives of the different features avaliable and the phone itself.

Advantages: small stylish and easy to use Disadvantages: easy to lose weird joystick thing hard 2 get used 2
I am 18 and therefore a younger user of phones. The first phone I got was a Nokia when I was 11 and I used Nokias ever since. My Mom decided to get me a contract just before Halloween 2004 and we got this phone free. I was very happy as it was a camera phone and everyone already had one! Below are a list of positives and negatives about the SonyEricssonK700i. Overall I would reccomend this phone to the younger side of the generation because of the functions and content. It is a great phone. Good luck choosing your phone x x x Positives: - Great quality screen. - Entertaining games, easy to use. - A good media player which minimizes so the phone can multi-task. - Great effects on camera (balck & white, negative, etc). - Different picture sizes and zoom x4. - Video capture (have not yet testeed how long for, only needed to do up to 40 ...
Advantages: easy to use Disadvantages: battery life could be better
Ive had my SonyEricssonk700i for about 2 months now and i have to say its possibly the best phone ive ever owned.
LOOKS:
Its a nice curvy shape, it features a huge screen in comparism to other phones and its also good to see in sunlight as its actually an LCD screen. The keypad is small and it does take some getting used to.
FUNCTIONS:
This phone comes with a whole load of added bits and pieces and the chances are you wont need to use half of them. Its got things like an alarm clock, a calendar, notebook, stopwatch and timer.
ENTERTAINMENT:
The K700i includes an FM radio, video player and an MP3 Player. The camera is of decent quality aswell, and it features the option of zooming in upto 4 times aswell as the ability to record videos, Im not sure how long the limit on the videos is, ive never really tried it, but with 40mb ...
