K800i

I received my gorgeous k800i a few weeks ago as an upgrade to my k750i and am very pleased with it so far!!

What does the k800i look like?

It's very sleek and in velvet black it's a little bigger than it's down grade, the k750i but the screen is bigger which I find better actually. It has a joystick to move around with like most of the other Sony Eriksson's but I find this one OK. My k750i joystick started playing up a couple of weeks after I got it but so far so good on this phone. The buttons are a bit tiddy for my liking and I have skinny fingers yet I still manage to sometimes push another one as they are so small! The back of the phone is even very stylish with a shiny lens cover which slides to the side to reveal the lens rather than downwards like the other models! Here are the specifications of the phone;

Memory: 64mb (No memory stick with this phone!)
Screen: 262.144 color TFT
240x320 pixels
Weight: 4.1oz
Size: 4.1 x 8.1 x 9 inches

How much is the k800i?

Well I got mine free on the Dolphin Plan from Orange which includes 550 minutes and unlimited texts for 35 pound a month. If you are pay as you go and I did a bit of searching it looks like the cheapest you can get it is around 250 pounds which is very expensive! You can always try ebay!!

What features does the k800i include?

I won't go through all the features as we'd be here all day and some of the features speak for themselves like the address book. (What else could it be?!) Bear in mind the k800i does not come with a memory stick like the k750i does so all though these features are great and everything there isn't actually much room to save them at all!

What is the reception like on this phone?

I can only tell you what it's like in areas i have been to with this phone which is East London where I live, Central London the Southend Area (Like Leigh on sea, the south east basically) and I've also been up to Kent with it and I did have a good phone reception there. It rarely goes down though I will point out sometimes on this phone when you send a text message it says "sending failed" even if you have a full reception sometimes! If you usually leave it for five minutes it's OK but if you want to send an urgent text it can be quite annoying! :/

CYBERSHOT CAMERA
Obviously the main focus on the k800i is the cyber shot camera. It's a 3.2 mega pixel camera and it is one hell of a camera. The picture is crystal clear and it has some brill features. The best one I find is the fact that it takes still pictures even if you're moving around! Honestly this cam is so good me and my fella tested it, took a pic of a fan on full speed and it captured it stopped! Some people might think oh who cares but to me that's good and you can catch them people out who don't like there pics being taken lol! The camera does have a flash though most of the time I find this too much… It's way too bright and shows off everyone's worst parts so it's really not necessary unless your inn the dark. In the day time it's good enough without it if you leave it on in the day I find it makes everything look like it's glowing! I try to avoid the flash as much as possible. You also have a Best Pic feature which is great. The phone takes eight pictures at once and you can choose which one you like best and delete the rest! Very handy as it can take a few shots sometimes to get a good picture. You can also have different frames for your picture though personally I have never used them as they are quite poo really. There is also a section for your camera depending on what situation you're in like the beach, sports, etc so it makes it a lot easier especially for people that don't have a clue about new stuff hehe. You can set your camera settings different by changing the mode to normal or fine. You can also shoot videos from here. The videos are top quality especially when you select high quality as an option too though they are very big in size when you do this as well so are the photos which is why you should probably buy a separate memory stick if you plan on using this phone as a digital camera.

FACEWARP

I LOVE this feature! I know it's childish but it's a lot of fun! You can find this under Organizer > My Applications > Face Warp. With this you can capture a picture of yourself or anyone else and warp the pic into things! You can make yourself twisty, or with a small nose, a wide smile, grit, a big face, professor looking with a huge head but small forehead, an alien, and a big nose! It sounds silly but honestly can be funny the first couple of times you use it!

MUSIC PLAYER
The music player is good with a clear sound and the phone comes with headphones though I don't think this phone is meant to be a music phone its more focused on the camera though if you do wish to use it as a mp3 player you should buy a separate memory stick for it as 64mb doesn't hold much. I wouldn't know how many songs that holds as I have a bipod and don't use the phone for music but I know it's pretty tiny so definitely buy a memory stick.

BLUETOOTH

I know a lot of phones have this now, well, most but it's still a good feature. You can transfer files between people close by which is cool or maybe bluetooth someone you fancy across the train lol. You can go to bluetooth via the settings menu in connectivity or in your quick menu. I find it's very good if you know someone with a ringbone or something you like and you can't be bothered to transfer it yourself/pay for it!

GAMES

I'm not a huge fame fan but I know it's a bit thing for people on their phones. From this you can also download new games though the phone comes with 3 already. The first is fotoquest fishing. In this game you have to take good pictures of fish and try and capture pics of rare fish which wins you points to the next level and earns you badges and rankings for fishing! Mini golf castles is what it says, mini golf. You start off with just one character and score points depending on how many shots it takes you to pot… the more you score the more characters you unlock. Also has tennis as well, the same game as the k750i you can play tournaments on here or with the person next to you!

MUSIC PLAYER

You can compose your own music here. I've attempted it and failed dreadfully. I can't get the hang of it and mine also just sounds like something off the X Factor auditions so I haven't really used it. Some people could probably make some good ringbones out of it but it's not a great feature. Something you might fiddle about with when bored!

RECORD SOUND

This is a good one too. Very basic but good if you like recording people's funny sayings to text messages or like me and recording me saying take your vitamin tablet for my alarm clock in the morning lol.

What does the phone come with?

When you receive your new phone it will come with;

A USB lead to plug your phone into the PC.
A charger to charge your battery up.
A new sim (if you requested one!)
A CD to install the mobile software on your PC.
A manual from Sony Ericsson about the phone.
Also if your pay monthly contracts you will receive a booklet from your provider too.
Headphones for your MP3, hands free convos and radio.

--- Top Things I like about the k800i so far ----

• The crystal clear camera! It's so good I use it as a digital camera and carry it around with me everywhere!
• The ability to set four different alarms is good for people like me. I set one in the morning and I can set different ones to remind me of certain things like take the rubbish bin out!
• The screen! It's a very perfect size! Much better than the k7750i
• The joystick doesn't seem to be sticking like the other Sony ericsoons.
• The settings menu is easy to navigate and to change things.
• The organizer is great for people like me. It has alarms, stopwatch, calculator, notes to save things for things you might need to remember. Just brill!
• Face warp is funny in a silly way!
• You can print things off your phone!
• The sound is great The ear piece is crystal clear. The volume doesn't go terribly loud but then again your not using if for a stereo in your bedroom are you?!

--- Things I don't like ---

 The screen gets dirty too easily.
 The battery life is quite poor.
 Not enough phone memory
 I can't set text messages as vivid lol. It's a feature on some other phones where you can get texts to scroll across your phone when you receive them! Well, if anyone does think it has it please tell me!
 It doesn't have a light like the k750i!

Of course it also has the address book and the old features such as a calculator and stuff!

So overall this is a great little camera phone though if your looking for an MP3 player try another phone!
If anyone needs anymore info added what I didn't mention leave a comment!
