When i first saw this phone, I found it vary bulky and heavy; but when i saw the features of it the drawbacks got overshadowed. It is suitable for Businessman. Its similar to a windows mobile... more

Advantages Advantages It's more than just a phone!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes a while to get to grips with!

***An introduction – this has nothing to do with the P990i – but I start my reviews with background information. If you just want to know the specifications of the phone, then I suggest you visit the Sony website or scroll down my review*** Back in 1997 my friends started getting pagers, and shortly afterwards mobile phones. I wasn’t having any of it. “How childish!” I used to exclaim as we sat in the pub and they compared ringtones. “I’m never going to get a mobile phone. I hate phones anyway. I don’t see what all the fuss is about!” I do hate phones, speaking on them in particular. I always ... more

4 Stars good phone for updating Review with images 03/12/2006

Advantages Advantages Good all round business phone

    Disadvantages Disadvantages software problems

First of all, a warning-I bought this phone in the knowledge that it had problems, but that they could be upgraded with regular firmware updates. So, far, i have updated it three times and i no longer suffer re-boots to free up memory, but i do enjoy kernal faults nearly everyday. The kernal is at the heart of the phone, but it can be updated with the firmware update tool that you need to install onto your PC. The spec of this phone is incredible, but it was announced a year ago and is now only just being released on the networks. The phone can be purchased from suppliers, but in the case of ... more

    Advantages Advantages Design, features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Stability,

There were quite a few delays in the release of the P990i, and to be honest I got bored waiting. So, whilst I was awaiting release, I purchased a P910 (the previous P Series phone). Eventually, the P990 was released, and I was lucky enough to get one of the first batch (I was on Vodafone, and as most people know they have a tendancy to brand their phones with logos and software, etc). My P990 however was completely unbranded, except for a Vodafone start up logo. I did eventually flash the firmware to make this completely SIm Free and removed even the start up logo to the original Sony Ericsson ... more

Advantages Advantages Does lots of stuff, has wifi, loads of 3rd party applications to improve functionality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very pricey, not a huge improvement on the 910i, annoyingly small keyboard, clunky and slow software

I eagerly awaited the release of this phone on Orange (my existing network with the P910i) from the time it was first announced, and suprise suprise the release date was pushed back, and back, and back! I eventually got my hands on the phone about 9 months after they said it would be released to Orange, disappointingly some 4 months after Vodafone and O2 released it on their networks. Overall, I have had to replace the phone three times (yay for orange care, definitely recommend taking out an insurance plan for these phones) - once because the speaker completely stopped working - microphone ... more

Advantages Advantages camera,3g and wifi, battery life

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Size,shape style

In my opinion the sony ericsson p990 is one of sonys first next generation phones although the size of the phone still lacks the persona of a samsung or motorola the unctions of the phone make up for that by having video calling, wifi, bluetooth, 2 mega pixel camera. To start withthe addiction of wifi it means that you can use wirless internet to get high speed access to it through your phone which is helpfull when your on the go. The 2 mega pixel camera although it is for the generation of phone that it is meant to be it could of been at least a 3 mega pixel but becasue of the other features i ... more
