My friend bought this phone, roughly a year ago at a what was a fair price back then.
The S500i is aimed at women, and has a special feature that will change your theme (when you open and close your phone, by sliding it). In January you will get cold colours which will slowly change and become lighter and greener, perfectly in time for spring and so on. I've heard it is quite nice in December when it is christmassy. And with a black cover and green keypad it can look quite nice.
The menu is fairly simple and can be changed, but basically has 12 icons. Like most sony ericssons.
On the front you have two soft keys, the back key, the clear key and two shortcuts. You also have the navigation buttons and the the middle button has a contrasting green trim.
But why I am reviewing my friend's phone...? Well you will soon know.
The phone is a slider phone and has a 2.0 mega pixel camera that you see when sliding the phone open. This also reveals two little lights that also change according to the date.
So this is just your average phone really. A few clever tricks like red eye removal and 'Photo DJ', 'Music DJ' and 'Video DJ' you can play music at a fair level and put in your own M2 memory card. There is nothing complicated about this phone.
So at £60 It sounds quite good, right? WRONG.
So the reason I am reviewing this is that my friend bought it roughly a year ago, as I said. And the phone has completely failed. Half the keys don't work. She can't read texts. She can't hang up. The keys cracked ages ago and maybe you can say it's her fault she text's too much. But It's only been a year and you expect a phone to last longer before it starts crumbling. So I have had to lend her one of my phones until she gets a nice one on her birthday. I don't understand how nearly every where says this phone is great and gives it roughly 4/5. It was quite a nice phone, while it lasted. It's kind of like those phones that will "now self-destruct".
So I say make your own mind up. Maybe she got unlucky
Advantages: Stylish, cool features, good quality camera Disadvantages: Not suitable for larger fingers, quite slow and sometimes crashes
I have owned the floral version of this phone (http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&rlz=1C1GGLS_enGB291GB321&ei=jKciSsT4G5KsjAe82O2wBg&resnum=0&q=s500i%20flower&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi) for roughly half a year. This phone comes in a variety of colours, such as black and green, white, yellow, purple and silver. However, I bought the limited edition Jemma Kid version, which is floral and aimed towards females. Apparently if you buy from the Carphone ... ...but I didn't receive this since I ordered mine online. This mobile still appears to be for sale on some websites, although it's not as widely available as the normal designs of this phone. The keys on this mobile are very thin and small and it took me a while to get used to texting quickly with them, but it's not much of a problem if you have smaller fingers. Before I bought this phone, I read many reviews about the keypad breaking and the phone ...

Advantages: Great Features Disadvantages: Memory Space
The Sony Ericsson S500i is the best phone that I have had, and I have had a lot of phones reasons why it is a great phone are shown below along with a few bad points but every phone has bad points this one has a little less than other phones.
The fact that it is a slide phone mean that it is helpful for calls all you have to do is just have slide it up and the call is answered. The phone has great reception, which is good because the majority of ... ...a phone the better the reception the better the phone actually is.
The phones colour is fantastic, I have owned many phones, but this one is the best by far. The phone has a 2.0 mega pixels camera which is great for videos and pictures the effects that the photoDJ have are brilliant it allows you to add clipart in and change the contrast and brightness and also has red eye removal and a lot more. You can also take a picture in black and white, negative, ...

Lovin' it!
Had few problems when first got phone but this was due to network faults rather than phone.
S500i will defiantly turn heads. It is equipped with many features for the mobile phone user who is always on the go & wanting to stay in contact with friends, family & work colleagues.
The overall design & style of the phone I believe is inspired by nature which includes the colour of the handset, the internal patterns & materials used to create ... ...opening mechanism which when opened reveals the sleek keypad & natural design of phone. The phone comes with hidden light effects which brings the S500i alive when an incoming call comes in.
Has a large & clear screen which displays up to 262k colours on a 240 x 320 pixels resolution screen. The screen can be viewed when the S500i is in the slide open or slide closed position which provides for continuous viewing.
Phone comes with a built in 2 ...

Advantages: Very stylish with quirky features Disadvantages: Small memory
I brought this phone two weeks ago and have been very happy with it so far. It didn't really take any setting up apart from putting in the time and date. It's also really easy to get the hang of, and although I did look through the manual I probably could have worked it.
Look
This phone is stylish, and certainly stands out, with its sleek black case with green keypad and back (also availible in yellow and silver). It also has lights down each side ... ...receiving a call, which can be varied for each caller. It also has a moving wallpaper which is nice, and can be set to change at random intervals (which I have it on, which is exciting as your never sure what it's going to show when you slide it open, and if you'll have butterflies across the screen or if it will be raining!) or it can be set to change at about 8 in the evening and again in the morning, or just be static.
Ease of Use
So far I have ...

Advantages: good user friendly software and good looks Disadvantages: very expensive, not very good software.
O.K phone, quit expensive. Very good sleek look, not very fat. easy to use. loads of good features. The mp3 player is very easy to use and very loud. And the preloaded games are really fun to play with good graphics. there is even a step counter! Battery lasts for a long time. Reception quality is o.k but not the best. The only problem for me is that it does not have 3G so I cant video call or have fast internet. The 2 mega-pixel camera is not as bright as the samsung E900 2 mega-pixel camera. I think for the price it sells at it is not the greatest phone and you can get a much better phone for the same price such as the sonyericssons500 or the k810i. ...
and emotions. You can also change it to black and white, a negative, Sepia, Emboss and Sketch.
The mp3 player is a bit of a let down from my last phone (see other review SonyEricssonS500i) you can't text whilest you listen to music which is kind of annoying also if you get a call it starts again or if you leave the mp3 part you have to start the song again. There is only 4 playlists you can have which allows you to have 30 songs per playlist, 120 songs in total.
The entertainment is great thoe, it includes four free games when I got my phone it had Free kick a game that requires you to aim for the goal and shoot taking in the wind direction, the way you're kicking it and the level of power, Forgotten Worrior the game is about a guy who falls in love and his lover is taken away and he sets off to find her, you have to help him fight to find ...

also endure this racket.
The D500 is the first samsung phone to support bluetooth. And it is easy to transfer files onto and away from your phone. Easy studio is the best program to use and may come with your phone or you can download it from samsungs website.
The D500 defiately has some drawbacks but what phone doesnt? All that is left to say is that samsung have provided us with another pretty good mobile. It looks, works and survies the side of the sofa brilliantly. Samsung D500 is in the same class as Nokia 6230, SonyEricssonS700i and K700i, i.e. in the top class
The samsung D500 can be undoubtadly bought in a store near you and is in the reigion of 150-200 as far as i have seen, although with christmas approaching offers will emerge!
Happy calling! ...
