In conclusion though, this phone is well worth the cash and has served me wonderfully over the last year. ... more
The main reason I bought this phone about a year ago was that it was triband. I already had a contract phone but as it was only dualband, and therefore would not work during my forthcoming trip to America, I needed another phone.
I wanted something cheap and simple. My contract phone had all the bells and whistles, and while it was pretty, most of the features were superfluous. I read quite a few reviews of the T200, most not very flattering, but it was cheap (about £60 if I remember rightly) and served the purpose.
Upon visting my local phone dealers I was quite annoyed to find that the phone was not actually being sold anymore, and via the internet was the only way to get hold of one. As that was a year ago, I'm guessing getting hold of a new one now would not be very easy...
The phone itself is small (good for me as I have small hands), easy to use, has a nice few games, and the most pleasant surprise was the amount of SMS messages it would save (50 inc. those on the SIM card). I send SMS more than I talk on the phone, and after having Nokias and their 10-message-limit phones, this was indeed a great feature. It doesn't have a colour screen, but to be honest, unless you use your phone for posing rather than actually ringing/SMSing people then who cares.
I have had no problems with the reception, the signal was strong and clear in all three places I have lived in the past year (Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Leeds). The phone worked excellently in America, no issues at all. The battery lasts rather well, a good 4/5 days if you don't ring anyone just send SMS. If you do talk on it though it goes down quite fast, but then what phone doesn't.
One of the two problems I do have with this phone is that it randomly turns itself off. Now, it never does it when it's sitting on my desk, or when I'm using it. It only does it when I'm out somewhere, and yes, before you ask, I do put the keypad lock on, but even so, every now and again, off it goes. But in the grand scheme of things this is a minor annoyance.
The other problem is the recharge plug, not the plug itself which is pleasantly small and light, but the bit that goes in the phone. What is it with Sony Ericsson? Why do they have to have a strange little contraption that gets bent out of shape if you're not careful? Why can't they be like everyone else and have a simple metal pin? Granted after a few tries you get used to it, but it's totally not necessary in my opinion.

...for the business market.
Sony Ericsson T68 and T68I models - Again it was the cost that put me off at over £300 for a handset only or currently T68 £29.99 and £69.99 for the T68I on 02 £13.99 per month contract which includes 600off peak 25x network and 50sms per month from www.e2save.co.uk . The reason I did not buy this is that two days after I bought the T200 the prices dropped. If this had happened before hand I would have gone for this handset, ... ...mobile market to they products. Sony Ericsson should have done better with this handset.
**Update 06 November** Please bare in mind that I wrote this op in September and have been waiting for ciao to give me some where to stick it. Sony have got it wrong with this phone and I found this out when I really needed to use it.
I did take the phones back as the two handset were as poor as each other. I have now seen a lot of other people saying the same ...

Advantages: Light in weight, Easy of use, Add-ons Disadvantages: Few features, Ringtones
...couple of months with a Sony prior to using the T200, this phone is certainly an Ericcsson.
Ericcssons usually concentrate on function rather than features. The T200 is no exception. One has to assume that the software inside the phone is an improvement on the often "buggy" Ericcssons of the past and this is an advantage.
To an Ericcsson user, this phone is very intuitive to use.
The T200 has adopted a few styling cues from the Nokia range as ... ...words as you type. Unlike earlier Ericcssons, this model has 3 menu language options (English, French, German). No good if you share the phone with your Swedish girlfriend or Italian boyfiend.
There are a few (unimpressive)games on this phone, but this phone is really all about making phone calls and sending / receiving text messages. (The games are only really of any interest when waiting for a bus and there is no one left to text!)
I chose the ...

Advantages: Blue screen, small, funky, nokia this ain't! Disadvantages: Did I mention its not a nokia.
I've had this phone for almost one year now. When I first got it I hated it (I have a liking for Nokias)but it's beginning to grow on me. The T200 has no special features as such, just your bog standard mobile, but that's what some people want in a phone; just a reliable device that you can make calls on. There are no 'real' problems with this phone, its always worked perfectly for me. A few annoying things:
The lack of ringtones and logos.
The ... ...get annoying at night with its constant flashing.
The small keys.
That said its still a great little phone. Clear calls, reasonable battery life, good reception (i'm on O2). I've always been a Nokian but fancied a change. To me it doesn't offer anything different from a Nokia (which you can probably pick up a little cheaper and has a wider selection of downloadables i.e. games, ringtones etc.) But that's my personal preference. If you're not bias ...

Advantages: Light & compact with fun features Disadvantages: Memory can get full quickly
I got this phone about 4 months ago and am generally very happy with it.
Lets get the moans out of the way first:
The memory can fill up quite quickly, which means you can't read new messages until you've deleted some old stored/unsent/sent messages. Its particularly irritating to keep deleting your sent items. (Or is that just me?)
I can get quite frustrated with the texting on this phone - (I never use the predictive mode). The keys are soft ... ...haven't exactly got the fastest fingers in the west, but I still have to wait for it to ‘catch up’. If you type a letter on the same key - e.g. 'Hi' you have to wait for the H to be accepted before typing the I (the phone displays the characters available and if you arrow through or press again another is selected) ...
I think other people have experienced this, but the phone can turn itself off. Perhaps when its not being used for a ...

Advantages: size, price, durability Disadvantages: poor signal, poor reception, lack of advanced features
When I first got this phone (an inheritance from my mother, who moved on to a much nicer Nokia 6100), I was thrilled. It had everything my old phone, a tiresome, bulky Motorola, did not. The menus were fairly straightforward, it had games, a couple of ringtones, and a multi-lingual dictionary. It even had a nice, sleek appearance and was relatively lightweight. I was in heaven. However, the honeymoon period soon wore off. Yes, I enjoyed the fact ... ...easily as well as the fact that the phone was small enough to fit into my jeans pocket, but something wasn't right. The phone actually hindered my ability to call people. The list of grievances are numerous: poor reception quality, frequent loss of signal, loss of network, a vague message that says "SOS calls only," and problems connecting to people's phones (which results in a very loud and sometimes painful "BEEP" in my ear). I've gone from loving ...

Advantages: Radio, Infrared and USB connection Disadvantages: Lack of Bluetooth, and memory space
The all new SonyEricsson W200i, isn't the geatest phone in the world but for the money paid for it, it does a great job. There are however obvious problems with it including its lack of bluetooth and its lack of memory (however you can purchase external memory cards). On the other hand its good points are that has the walkman, for all your music needs, and infrared connections which help immensely when it comes to sending information. Other feautures include its radio (only FM) really useful when you get bored of your own music. It can easily connect to a computer through USB connection and from this you can send music and pictures from the PC to the phone, it can also charge from the computer. This is all in all a great phone for its money, and moderatly easy to use. ...
Advantages: Slim, lightweight, attractive, good range of features Disadvantages: Keypad is annoying, games can be deleted
As mentioned in my previous article, when I got the SonyEricssonT200, my mother updated to a Nokia 6610. Needless to say, I "borrow" it every now and again, but I can't help it. This phone rocks, despite it's lack of more sophisticated features such as cameras, AV recording, or polyphonic ringtones. For a phone in it's pricerange, it certainly has a lot of offer.
The phone is attractive in appearance, slim and curved, which I must confess I prefer to the somewhat bizzare forms the latest Nokias are taking. The screen is large, yet not too large, and has an attractive color display and background picture (which can be changed, but more on that later.) The menus are easy to navigate, but finding specific functions can sometimes take a little time due to the numerous sub-menus on this phone.
Using the phone's features ...

It?s a Tri-band phone, which means it will work in the USA as long as you set it up with your phone provider with around a week?s notice before you travel. You also need to make adjustments to your network selection once you arrive in the country.
The phone allows you to take colour picture, as long as you have the add on camera which costs £80.00. The phone screen is used as the viewfinder and you can send photos about for 40p on MMS to other MMS equipped phones. Current phones that use this feature are. Nokia 7650 and 7210. SonyEricssonT68/68i , T300 and T200 (Black and White only on the latter). I am not interested by this feature and have not used it so cannot comment if it?s good ...
