I was told by my daughter (an expert on phones and their "coolness" factor) that this phone was the Bees Knees. Perhaps it is for teenagers, but for ancient motherly types, its just too much hassle.
I've been spoilt by my previous phone, which had a CAPACIOUS memory for text messages (of which I am an inveterate hoarder).
I did manage to get all my address book (some 160 contacts at last count) onto the phone memory with no problem at all, but the message memory only holds around 40 messages.
My last phone held over 150 messages before it groaned about the amount of space I was using (I am a bit soppy and haved tended to keep romantic texts in the past) Also, I need to keep business-related ones until the appointment and/or arrangements at work are sorted out, which can sometimes be weeks in advance).
Also, it saves every single message sent, and my impatience caused me not to be able to find the instruction which switched off the "save all sent messages". It would be nice to be given the option of being asked if you want to keep specific sent texts. I got quite annoyed having to constantly delete all my sent messages, and the ones I wanted to save to the SIM memory were limited, I could only get about 10 into the SIM memory, the rest I have to delete.
The battery life does not seem to last very long. My previous Nokia phone would go for DAYS (or even a week) at a time without needing to be recharged, but I could not go much past a day or two with this phone needing to be recharged.
This was my first "camera" phone, so I was somewhat perturbed to discover that very few photos can be kept. My daughters phone seems to have limitless capacity for photos. This one only takes about 30 and then it gets very sluggish. I had plans to take photos of each of my contacts and then apply the photos to them, but it simply does not have the capacity.
On the up side : The phone is very light and easy to carry. It is just the right size to not get lost in my jacket pocket - which is quite important, as I am a biker and phones that are too small are not easily accessible insize zipped leathers. This phone is just the right size to be easily found, but not too bulky to clutter up pockets.
I did not download any ringtones, but the ones which come as standard are very nice (I am very fond of the "New York" ringtone). The melody-creating program is rather fun, even I (technophobe that I am) managed to figure out how to make funky ringtones of my own.
The alarm ringtone set to "Digirain" certainly wakes one up. My boyfriend had to get up at 3am one morning, and we had NO problem hearing the alarm! :)
It has a great colour screen, which is very clear and the colour is good. The graphics for the different programs are clear and specific, its not difficult to know which program you are going into.
I have to admit, I am a text freak, I use it to communicate with the entire world (all over the world) and the spellchecker which allows you to save words of your own to the dictionary so easily is GREAT. I also like the fact that it is "intelligent" and remembers if you use a word often, and offers that word up first in the spelling choices. Occasionally I became frustrated by the small central button being very sensitive and I kept sending half-composed messages - rather confusing to those who are used to me sending lengthy and complicated messages - but in general the texting facility (once you get used to it) is extremely good.
Its a shame that I just cannot get on with the messaging facility not having enough room, or the photos not being able to be saved much past 30 pictures, as I had great ambitions for this phone when I first got it, but its lack of sufficient memory lets it down.
Advantages: Bluetooth, large Phonebook, Looks great Disadvantages: Ringtones, the white model doesnt look as good
...text message alerts. Something for Sony to include in their next model.
Games
I don’t really ever play games on my mobile, I prefer real computer games. But I gather that minigolf is a very good game, as far as games go. And I think you can download more games if you fancy.
Other bits and bobs
Just the last few little things that I like and dislike about this phone.
The screen is very cool, you can set a photo as your screensaver which I love.
... ...your time using it, leaving your charger at home on a weekend away is no big drama if the battery is full to begin with.
On the other hand, I don’t like how easy it is to connect to the internet (and start paying WAP fee’s).
The screen does occasionally freeze for a few seconds; this does irritate, but rest assured, it never freezes for more then 10 seconds.
All round, this is an excellent phone and well worth paying the extra £££s for. If you ...

Advantages: Fantastic range of features, small and light, and relatively cheap. Apparantly free internet usage. Disadvantages: Does not support video. No camera light, and takes a while to get used ot.
...there were also leaflets promoting Sony Ericsson! As well as this, there was an exceptionally chunky instruction booklet... which I used purely to find out what buttons to press. I decided that since I didn't fancy a sleepless night of reading the instruction manual I would teach myself what does what.
But to the thing you are reading this review for... the phone. Sitting in a snug little cardboard bed, it gleams slightly as the light hits the shiny ... ...nice and bright, displaying the Sony Ericsson logo. But the best part about turning it on is the sound. A loud, sharp, crystal clear tone sounds out, pounding the puny NEC 338 sound capabilities into the ground. It isn't as loud as the A835 but it is far clearer.
The main screen consists simply of a wallpaper, time, date, and all the usual expected info such as battery life and reception quality. There are no shortcut pictures, asides from the soft ...

Advantages: Design, Bluetooth, Voice Control, Personalisation Disadvantages: Camera, Limited Memory, Slow to Text With, Unremovable Cover
...available, I settled for the Sony Ericsson T630.
DESIGN
The phone is white, with grey sides. This gives it a rather classical, "clean" look which I like. I think it somehow reflects on Ericsson's Swedish roots! The buttons are close together and have little bumps on top of them, which makes it easier to dial/text for those with larger fingers. There is a d-pad (directional controller) that goes up, down, left, right, and, "in". There is also a ... ...it would be on a Sony Ericsson. I think the latter is a little more difficult and cumbersome. The space button is the # key instead of the 0 key, which means you have to move your thumb a bit more to press it. Also, when using predictive input and you want to chose another word, you have to scroll down through a list and then select the word you want. This takes a lot more time than Nokia's way of just pressing the star key till you get the word ...

...new mobile phone, it’s a Sony Ericsson T630.
Normally im a Nokia kinda girl, but I thought why not have a change and go for the Sony Ericsson. Im actually glad I did as I love it.
The Appearance of the Phone
My phone looks very stylish its black, all the pictures I see of this phone are the ones you can get in silver. The screen is bigger than the not so up to date phones and of course the screen is in colour.
The keypad buttons are a little ... ...as them too.
My Sony Ericsson came with the instructions and the battery charger plus a CD which have the drivers on for the computer to transfer data from phone to computer. I charge the phone for about 2 hours and that lasts about 3 days but depending on how much ive used it, or how much my boyfriend has gamed on the games. I have a contact so I pay £13.50 a month, and get about 600 free minutes and 50 free text messages. The phone is FREE!
Ive ...

...change to adapt to the Sony Ericsson type of texting. As long as you remember to press the # key instead of 0 like on a Nokia you’ll be ok. I also found a problem when texting that its possible you could press the button too quickly and miss the letter your wanting to place. There is a little display that appears featuring the letters and other options for each key. There is predictive text but I prefer not to use it. Overall texting is good. However ... ...items until you delete them. There is also the option to see how much memory you have left but it seems that its getting used up pretty quickly. Not ideal if you like to save a lot of messages. When sending a text message it seems you have to confirm to about 3 different prompt message before it actually sends! -^- Picture messaging and Email -^-
You need a MMS configured to access picture messaging other than that you can easily send picture messages ...

Advantages: Small, elegant, well made. Disadvantages: Keys too small for some people
...SonyEricsson started the good phones with the T630, and from there - this is just my opinion - they have gone from strength to strength.
The W880i has all the features of the standard SE phone, but what sets this phone out from most on the market is it sleek, slim elegant design. The walkman phone that it is makes it sought after.
One of the main drawbacks, and I have heard this from a number of people, is the size of the buttons. Ok, so maybe I do have small fingers, but I didnt have any problem with the buttons. It may have taken a little to adjust to their size, but after a while, it was a non issue for me.
Would I suggest you buy it? Hell, yea! :)...

Advantages: Affordable: get more for less; WAP-capable Disadvantages: Missing themes, sounds-but easily acquired with Blue Tooth and WAP
...This is the phone that can truly be dubbed as SonyEricssonT630 Sr. Why? Because it is as it is--a T630's predecessor.
The capabilities and the functions of this phone is very much similar to that of a T630--the camera, the online facility and stuff, the rings and Blue tooth and Infared--all of it. But with the slight twist as this models is missing some themes or sounds maybe, and that its screen is more slimmer than the 630's.
In totality, it doesn't really have much of a difference with the T630. And if ever there are, you can't really tell. Oh well, at least it's a good phone (like any other SE).Guess that's what matters most to us consumers, right?...
