I have the white version of this mobile phone, it is on the o2 network pay as you go. When i first boughtthis mobile phone from the o2 shop, i had plenty of problems with it, the memory card wouldn't work, the back cover is hard to put on and the simcard is fiddly to put in, i had to use a pen to push it into place till it clicked in. I sent it back to the o2 shop who agreed with me that there have been problems with a big batch of them. He replaced it with the same model, and set it up for me while in the shop. He had problems putting the sim card in, so i suggested he used a pen to push it in. The sim card on this mobile phone actually go in upside down with the metal connection bit facing upwards. These actually scratched while trying to insert in on both both occasions, after he set it up, there was no problems with it.
The first thing i noticed about the mobile was how slim and sleek it looked, i have had lots of comments from people saying how sleek and nice it looked.
I mainly use my mobile for calls and sending text messages only, but have found the internet browser on it quite easy to use.
Sending a text is quite straight forward, from the menu you just have to click the envelope icon which takes you
to your options on a text, it will come up, write new text, inbox, email, RSS reader, drafts and sent. Typing a text is straight forward, using the keypad but the buttons are quite small, and sometimes you can misspell a word if you are not concentrating. After about 2 weeks of using this mobile, my keypad buttons started to crack, ive heard from friends and family who've had the same problem,
Contacts. I have over 55 names stored on my contacts with ample room for more, for each name stored you can also enter other details like email, website, street address, which is very handy. searching for a specif name is easy, say i was searching for Lisa in my contacts, i would just type the letters L and I on the keypad which take me straight to the name.
Calls.
Calls are easy to make, key in the number and press call, or select a contact from the phone book entry and press call. also there is a menu system for answered, calls made and missed calls which is useful.
Entertainment
Clicking on the entertainment option takes you to a variety of options, The first option is o2, when you select this you are given a set of phone numbers for contacting o2 for various products like voice mail, 1471, top up credit, customer service, traffic line, UK directory, info hot line and bolt ons. Ive only used the voice mail service from this option, which when you call takes you to your voice mail, which is charged 10p a time on o2.
The second option is radio, as long as you connect your headphones which come in the box, then this feature can be used. Ive found that most local stations to me are easily picked up, and as long as the headphone wire is at full length then this is a great little feature to use. You can save each station you tune in and give it a name, and also put them in order. You can also use the radio on lousspeaker so you dont need to listen via the headphones, but they still must be connected.
Third option is Track ID, which is basically when you select this, you hold it up to a song that you want to no the name of and it will record a few seconds and then after about 2 minutes, you will receive a text message containing that song information, like the artist, name off the album and how long the song is, there is a charge for using this service as it uses GPRS, so you are charged for the data call.
Fourth option is Video DJ, which lets you edit videos that you have recorded via you mobile, and add music to them.
Fifth option is Photo DJ, which lets you edit photos stored on your phone, you can change the brightness, add text, or rotate the picture or add colorful effects.
Sixth option is Music DJ, which lets you make your own music, its quite basic but is fun to mess around on when bored.
Seventh option is record sound, which lets you record whatever sound that is being made at that time, and can be used as a ring tone.
Next up is the camera, first of all before you use this feature, you need to slide the phone upwards as its hidden just behind the screen. its a 2 mega pixel camera, only downside to it is that is has no flash. There are 4 shoot modes to take pictures, normal, panorama, frames and burst,. Using burst mode takes 4 pictures one after each other so you can then choose which is the best one to keep. Frames is picture templates that you can add a picture of a face to, on mine theres a template of a basketball player with his face missing, so you can take a picture of someones face and add it to the template, theres 9 more templates, which are frames which are different in color and some with flowers on. Panorama mode is making the picture wider, although i couldn't see the difference from normal mode. Normal mode is just what it says, it take normal pictures.
Next up is organizer. when this option is selected, you can use your alarm, calendar, tasks, notes, stop watch and calculator. The alarm feature is easy to set up, just set the time you want it to go off, you can choose from your own ring tones or radio as the tune instead of a beeper. although if using the radio you need the headphones fitted on. As for the calendar, you can set dates like birthdays, weddings and so on, and this will alert you that day you have set it yo go off which is very handy and ive used plenty of times. You can set a date to go off a a certain time in a day as well. Task, can be used to add a task you need to remember, pretty much in the same way the calendar works. Notes, can be used to make notes on anything you need to write down but have no pen, and can be stored on your phone. Stop watch, pretty easy to use for timing anything from an egg to doing exercise.
Calculator, is straight forward to use, its basic, but ideal maybe when your out shopping or something. Theres also a code memo, which can be used to store information that you don't want anyone else to see, all you have to do is write the info into the phone using the keypad, then save it then enter a 4 digit secure number.
Next up is file manager, this is were you store all you MP3s, pictures, videos, games and web pages. depending on the size of you memory card then you can fit alot of pictures and MP3s on here, i have a 1GB card and have over 50 pictures stored and 67 MP3s stored as well with plenty of room to spare.
Next is the Walkman feature, which is just as good as a standard MP3 player. depending on your memory card size, you can hold whole albums on here, plus you can add pictures to each song, say like the album cover.
Next up is the option o2 home, which is where you are taken to the mobile phone version of the internet, here you can download music, videos, or even go onto other websites.
Battery life is excellent, from just average use, say like a few calls a day, a few text messages a day then it last around 4 or 5 days. but once you starting using the fancy features it soon starts to use up battery power.
Over all this phone has been great, despite the dodgy simcard access and back cover, its been a great servant to me. I use mobile every day, at home and in work.
