I owned this phone for just over a year I was on 02 network and I paid £139.99 for it.
The mobile phone software is very good but the phone itself is very disappointing!!!!!
First of all the Sony Ericsson W580i comes with a 512MB memory card and a 2.0 mega pixel camera. This obviously means that there is alot of space for pictures, music and video files. The picture quality is also brilliant too.
On the Sony Ericsson W580i you can listen to the local radio station, Play the Games (My phone came with two games), TrackID (This you put your phone next to a speaker and the song is ID'd but comes with a price), Video Player. A "Video dj" Which allows you to add your videos together, PhotoDJ which allows you to edit the brightness etc of the photos, MusicDJ which allows you to compose your own music, Remote Control which allows you to control your laptop with your mobile phone and finally record sound allows you to record your own sounds.
Another feature of the mobile phone is the fitness feature which records how many steps you walk/run/jog and the calories you burn. You can also record the times and gain some "medals".(not very good for the couch potatoes!)
The walkman option allows you to create play lists and also "shuffle" the songs. The "Shuffle" option was hard to find out how to do it as it didn't tell you in the book. I had to discover this myself! (you have to hold the walkman button in)
On the other hand there is alot of bad things that I can say for the phone. I hadn't had the phone a month when the keypad started cracking. I purchased new buttons which were easy to fit onto the phone. Unfortunatly, my USB port decided to "malfunction" and so i was unable to connect it to the PC.. then my "back" button stopped working, followed by the up button and "cancel" button. So all in a year i now have to purchase a new mobile phone!
The battery life, which you would expect to be good on a walkman phone is very poor and doesn't last that long!# so truthfully whats the point in calling it a walkman if the battery life is so poor
The sim card was very hard to get into place and I was suggested to use a pen to put it in place by the gentleman in the carphone ware house. However, this isn't totally a bad thing about the telephone as it leaves a less chance of the sim card getting damaged or lost.
As a female I always have to have dangly things on my mobile phone and after been told where the charm went I discovered that it doesn't actually stay there!! I also found it very hard to get the back of the mobile off when I wanted to put the charm back on.
I would not recommend anyone buying this sony ericsson as you will be very disappointed, most people I know who have purchased it have had problems!
VERY DISAPPOINTING!!
