I have now been using my W610imobile 'phone for just over a month and will write about my initial impressions. I should point out I have used either Ericsson or the later branded Sony Ericsson telephones for nearly fifteen years now. I have always been impressed with the build quality. Working in the construction industry and spending a lot of time outdoors I need a phone that will withstand light to medium blows or drops.
The W610i is a pretty phone, black front, orange back, about 25 to 30mm thick by about 100mm high, so small enough to fit in your shirt pocket. There are quite a lot of features standard on the phone, yousurf the WAP internet, play games etc nothing different tomany phones on the market today. The main features I like are the MP3 player, radio, decent 2 megapixel camera, oh yes and you can make and receive telephone calls. I like the MP3 player and have so far stored about a hundred songs on the mini memory card (512mb capacity) supplied with the phone. Radio is good, can only be operated with the headfones plugged in as the headphones also act as the antenna - you can however swith on the external speaker with the headphones plugged in for use in a room. Anyone used to Sony Ericsson products will find this phone simple to use a "toggle" type switch on the front gives access to the main menu allowing access to phone book, calendar, camera settings etc. If you have been used to other brands, Nokia etc, it may be a bit more frustrating, the answer button being in the wrong place, but I would think you will be used to it after a day or so. So far I think Sony have at long last corrected the annoying software defect of previous models - when signal was weak the phone woould register Emergency Calls - as I say so far I haven't had this on this model. The camera is pretty good, 2 megapixels and more importantly its easy to transfer photographs onto a computer for printing out. MP3 player also is very good, but not being a computer genius I still haven't worked out how to create a playlist from music stored on the memory card, but that is probably just me. I use the phone in conjunction with a Parrot Rhythm N Blue Bluetooth head unit ( see seperate review), and overall it seems to work well apart from on occassion the phone will continue to be registered with the head unit when its nowhere near, The only solution to this is it seems to switch the phone off and on again.
On the whole I am pretty pleased with the phone and would recommend it to everybody
